Saturday
After being constantly interupted by rain I managed to get the following done:

Bolt battery box into the boot, trim and crimp cables and route through the car:

Move V6 airbox to bolt directly to the tb, had a little trouble with the top hose of the header tank hitting against it but thanks to a good and quick fix from Tom@JMS I think its sorted!

Fitted 172 Cup headlights, although they are really badly weathered, they where worse than these pics when I got them, ive already sanded them down a few times following the guide on here so might get richy22 to PC polish them back. I have since found out that one of the headlight adjusters is broken so I may have to replace one of the headlights anyway :( The drivers sides insert currently flaps about all over the place when you touch it from behind!

Sunday
Saw there was a Cobra Suzuku for sale saturday night on here so got up at 7am and started the 2h30m journey to pick it up!

As is it wasnt raining and wanting to get my current seats out to sell I set about fitting my new Cobra, the seat itself is 90% mint apart from a few scraches here and there and the cloth coming off slightly on the driver side which im sure I can sort.

Its using the standard Cobra alloy sideframes with a GDI low subframe and my god its low lol! I cant see my bonnet anymore! Very strange and also awesome at the same time, I may have to move it on the sidemounts slightly though :). Will have to run with a single seat until I get paid next month to get another, this seat will then become the passengers.

I also sprayed some mirror covers Ford Graphite grey along with redoing my front diamond which was abit tatty so hopefully ill get them on tomorrow!

nah you can do it on your own, you'll only have one heat gun i'm guessing?! oh and a wallpaper scraper too.

will take approx 3 hours approx to do front and back depending on how stubborn the tar is.

little tip - white spirit on an old rag to get the majority of the tar stains off, and then the rest of the little bits you can't remove, get some autoglym tar remover on it.

then a dab of hot water on another clean cloth to get rid of the dirty marks you'll leave over the rest of the floor.

Geezer you shouldn't have a battery in the car unless its sealed / dry cell, vents fumes into the cabin :dead:

Not sure on the MOT, Only reason I found out was a local Audio specialist was telling/showing me a car they were repairing & they couldn't stress enough not to do it, gave me a good reason to buy a race cell ;)

Ive seen loads over the years tbh, what are the risks with the fumes then? The car isnt exactly air tight.

yeah i know toxic etc etc.

but in rallying if you dont have a sealed battery you run a sealed battery box.

Yea, didn't bat an eyelid or ask or anything!

Skyline's have a battery in the boot and they're not sealed either, and thats standard!

stuff that has a battery in the boot have a vent pipe tho. of course it will pass an mot. but so would a seat cover made of razor blades

So yesterday I got rid of the nasty tar, was really happy with how much weight I saved! Couple of pics from the days work:

Getting the tar off was the easy bit as if its done correctly for the front parts at least you can just pull it all off in once piece. The bit that was the pain for me was getting rid of the glue under it, I didnt think to use thinners as im stupid plus by the time I did there was no seat in my car to go and get any :( I got 98% of the glue off but there are still a few little bits around but nothing to worry about imo.

Matched inlets from JMS next as I honestly forgot about even getting these fitted over my other mods, an easy 5-10bhp to be made for £230 fitted which is an awesome £/bhp ratio!

I do love the look of your 172 Greeny, it looks awesome.

Just a couple of question's regarding your mods.

How much did the rims cost / where is best to source them?

The side indicator covers in black. Are they easy to source?

The bullet's in yellow. Did you do those yourself or did somebody else do them? If so, who :)

I'm thinking of having mine in black with the 2.0l 16v in white.

Cheers.

The wheels were from me :) ;)

Team Dynamic Monza R's but with the red lip painted black.

(new they are about 300 odd quid plus I believe)

Cheers, its abit of a messy ***** tbh tho lol :)

I swapped the rims with Richy22 on here for my old powercoated standard rims, they arnt that expensive though:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/15-B-MONZA-R-...s_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item1e5be7e70b

Minus the centre caps LOL, also mine had a nasty red rim which I had to black over.

The side reps I got off a guy on ebay who just sprayed a standard set of orange ones, im also running orange 501 bulbs to ensure they shine through well, passed 2 MOT's without issues. I didn't want the 'smoked' ones you can buy as they dont really blend in with the bodywork, I would just have a go spraying some standard orange ones gloss black.

I did spray my bullets but had them redone by NathJ on here but they need doing again really which im sure ill get to at some point :)

Cya at FCS? :)

Went to throw out the carpet today so thought I would weigh it first just to see...

12kg! Obviously thats without the foam which no doubt would probably be about 1kg if that? Considering some on here said it was 6kg I was quite happy! :D
