Remap?

  2003 MR2 Roadster
Could someone tell me what a remap is/does?

Also please explain how to/what resetting the ECU does?

I am fitting a K&N panel filter this week and taking the acoustic valve out from the end of the standard CAF. My idle is lumpy and when stood still I am getting a kind of popping from what sounds like the CAT converter area..Is it running lean?..Should I be worried?..Would a tune up sort it?
Otherwise the car pulls VERY well.

They all idle poorly mate, just the way it is.

A remap basically optimises the engine for performance, it takes away some of the compromises that Renault build into it, usually raises the rev limit as well.

I doubt you are or are going to be running lean unless there is a problem with the car already!
