Which intercooler

Right, as you may know i've been having problems with my car, all this is sorted now so time to start saving up for intercooler & decat
just wondering which intercooler would be best in your opinion

Measure gap at bottom, go on ebay and search through the universal ones. They'll be fine unless your putting 60+psi through one.

If it was me i would go and get one from Forge Motorsports. I have had two from them in the past, one was off the shelf and another was custom made. Both were excellent, the custom made one from forge was commented by my mapper to be one of the best he had seen. You would be spending quite a lot more than you have budgeted for one, at a guess, but it would definately be well worth it. A good intercooler with good flow can be the difference between getting those extra few ponies.

Bit of a difference going from £50 to £250+ though, haven't really got the money for a Forge motorsport yet. Think i'm either going to get a Land Rover tD5 or Ford TDCi one as they seem to be similar size to the dCi 100's intercooler. Moneys a bit tight at the minute so it's going to be a while before I get it mapped as well.

lol turbo wil last long with that beast on there.... derv coming on boost at 4k lol

id go for either the top or bottom one mate, bottom looks in better condition tho . i got one the exact same from mine from a scrappy found it at deatons you should no were that is .

pfft it'll fill up quick enough. The extra lag will be marginal. It's not that deep

-mx1_champ : yeah seen a couple of intercooler posts on there, mainly went for the focus one due to the rarity of the dci100 intercooler.
Don't know where deatons is, only been living in worksop since January

dont waste time on making OEM stuff fit. If you're uprating, do it with something at least fairly decent, especially for the money you're looking at. The one i've linked to is £60 buy-in-now from the same seller

will a universal 1 work ok? ... also would it be a good idea buying the standard dci80 pipework then buying adaptors to fit onto the universal one?

theres plenty of room behind a MK2 bumper. Why not make the most of it. If your going to do a 'make-it-fit' job anyway, then why not get something worthwhile?

the pipe work will be a bit of a b**ch , may aswell use custom stuff to give it better flow. you can buy it cheap from ebay. just need some old thick rad hoses to make a mock set up so you know exactly what you need to be buying.
