Good Dry/Warm weather track day tyre?

Car  Disco 5 ,Monaro VXR
I have tried the search but can't find the answer.

Have wet/mixed weather tyres sorted with Toyo T1R on my 182 set of wheels but they melt when its hot and dry from experience. So have invested in a set of 15" wheels to get a good set of track rubber for when its warm and dry etc.

Not running cage etc so dont want slicks but just wondered if there is a cheaper option than going for the Yoko Ad048 or Toyo 888 that people have got on with?

Or shall i just bite the bullet and spend £360-£370 on a set of the Ad048's

Cheers
James

If you want to spend £320 get a set of Toyo R888. If you're wanting to spend around £250 get a set of Federal RSR or Nankang NS2-R.

All will be better than the T1R's.

Just for clarification in case anyone is confused, they are two different tyres by Yokohama - the AD08 and the more track-focussed AO48.

AO48 similar to Toyo R888
AD08 similar to Fed RSR, Nankang NS2-R & Toyo R1R

I think that's right.

Cant find the RSR's for anywhere near £250 for 4? Any links

They go up down like made mate.

Just a case of keep hunting.

There was a link on here recently at 55 quid I ordered some from, then a few days later I decided to order some more and same link was 75 or something.

81 now, and this was only a few weeks ago too!

Wow, just looked for you. They have gone up in the last 12 months. I bought a set last year for £240 now they are closer to £300 a set.

Still a good tyre for the price but for that little bit more £320 I'd go Toyo R888 personally.

Edit: I've just bought a set of Nankang NS2-R for circ £250 (Camskill have them on offer).

I got a pair for GBP 175.20 about 5 weeks ago, but cant find at the same price now, that was mytyres who are now 125 each.

320 though, I havent seen them that cheap for 4 for probably about 3 years!

Oponeo.

I'd be extremely careful though. In the matter of 40 minutes they have gone from £81 per tyre to £116 per tyre.

Also Federal RSR have gone up a few £.

There always seem to be 2 prices on mytyres, the cheap one at 86-90 quid and a higher one at 112-116 quid. I've just saved the cheap link into my favourites. Not quite sure why and for what reason the different prices are but again I can confirm the cheaper ones are normal 888's in GG compound, why anyone would buy at the higher price is beyond me.

Just got a set of AD08-Rs from Blackcircles for £310 delivered, works out closer to £300 with triple clubcard points. They are also good when it's damp/wet too which is a bonus not having to change wheels over during a TD.

RSR are good in the wet too, and in the dry.

Not tried RSRs. Sticking with AD08s as I know they're good. I think the AD08s also have more tread depth than some of the others - which goes some way to justifying the extra cost.
