Speed sensor in ph1

  Clio 1.2 Mk2 Ph1
I have an intermittent fault with my speed sensor. The Speedo will drop to zero and my torque app tells me there's a fault! Can anyone point me in the right direction. The car gets all clunky on gear changes too. Thanks

Its the speedo sensor on the gearbox, simply unplug and plug in the new one :)

There is a small metal heat shield over it, remove this (this just pulls off sideways) then remove the wiring plug onto the speed sensor, and the speed sensor just pulls out with a fairly firm pull.

No tools required.

Do it when the engine hasnt been run for a while though or you will be likely to burn yourself on the exhaust manifold.

Looks identical to the renault one from the picture, I couldnt comment on that specific seller as to if its any good or not though.

I have had the same issue on my ph1. Bought one from eBay for £8.99 and turns out its an OEM part, had the renault logo moulded in plastic then rubbed out, part number etc. the previous one was tricky to get out, in the end I used a spark plug socket over the sensor, (there is a mould bolt head in the sensor) to twist it slightly and it popped out. The new one went in very easily almost felt too loose. I am off to test it later, hopes it's sorted. Took five minutes to do.

Didn't see any point in starting a new thread to ask my question.
I have also got a new speedo sensor, pulled the old one out but when I try to push the new one in it only goes as far as the blue o-ring at the top of the sensor; can't push it any harder.

Did yours go all the way in no problem?

I have compared it to the old sensor and the dimensions are identical.
