Clio 182 - Artic track beast

  ford fiesta 2004
Hello All,

so ive been a member on here for a few months, trailing the for sale adds hoping to get hold of a car i can use on track.
Finally I found a car with the right spec which I collected yesterday, and what a belter.

So here it is:

The spec is already quite good, it has the following setup:

16" Turinis with Toyo R888r tyres which need replacing very soon
197 Cam, cambelt and remap done by Engine dynamics. Dyno'd at 186.3bup with 159ft/lb
Gaz gold coilovers front with 500lb springs
Gaz GHA Rear with 320lb springs
Ktec solid top mounts
whiteline rear anti roll bar
pms shifter (bloody awesume even with the rattles)
Corbeaux DFX seats which are like new. (so comfy and my fat a** fits)
new Brembo HC front and back with DS2500 Pads
Ktec braided hoses and ATE 200 fluid
Sparco steering wheel
Powerflex wishbones, engine mounts, exhaust mounts, inner and outer ARB and SMI Steering joints.
Scorpion full system with decat

Couple of bits to tidy up, car was MOT's monday by the seller and it had an advisory for the offside lower ball joint. ive bought two Lamfoder ball joints which i will replace both sides.
Exhaust is wonky, driving me mad so will need to try and sort that.
Quick release o rings had snapped and were replaced with cable ties so have order a few of those.
Handbrake feels pants so hoping that just needs adjusting, if not it will be new cables.
A good detail and some wax

Plans are to give the car a more track look and change a few things.

probably change the wheels for 15" pro race 1.2s
cmc splitter
roll cage and harnesses
Rear has been stripped but front was left so will likely strip the front aswell.

Hoping to book Bedford on the 20th November for my first outing, cant wait!

anyway looking forward in having some fun and hopefully will see some of you around.

Never thought id see the day you were driving a clio, and best of all, on CS.net ;-) Welcome Jephers, now sack off all the above plans, and get some boost into it!:tonguewink:

  Countryman JCW
haha boost is overrated, id suggest you get yourself a clio and stop getting chuffed off your jap crap haha
Boost is absolutely NOT over rated! Especially in the 1*2 clio !!

Tempted to come back to clio-ville for the 6th time though i'm not gonna lie...

New wheels and tyres have been ordered. cheap wheels but as they are being used for track i didnt want to spend alot as they will get trashed im sure.

I went for the Calibre Suzuka in gun metal with some 195/50/15 Toyo R888, I was going to get the R888r as they are meant to be epic in the dry but as they are shocking in the wet i thought the R888 are the best alrounder.

Will take some pics the second they are fitted

Wheels look nice, r888s aren't great in the wet either BTW, OK in the damp, shite if there's puddles about. I only use mine on dry days now and have an old set of F1's with Rainsport 3's for wet days which are great for a mushy budget road tyre.

Busy evening. Had a few deliveries, some metal sprigot rings but no wheels grrr. Had a pair of lower ball joints arrive so thought I’d get them fitted. Hour and half later and viola.

  dan's cast offs.
ed are good. we've been seeing comfortably over 190bhp and 170lb/ft torque. last one was 195bhp and 175lb/ft.
doing another that's going in on wednesday but that's on a phase 1 head so be interesting to see if there's any noticeable difference.

I'm looking forward to seeing my results Carl, I'm like a kid at Christmas

Couple of small bits arrived before work this morning.
Some 3.3ohm resisters to hopefully get rid of some of the lights on the dash.
Also some Gtechniq C5 for when the new wheels arrive. this stuff is unbelievable and will hopefully help in keeping brake dust from sticking to the wheels after a track day.

Dan @ SJM and Michael Woodford managed to crack 200bhp with those cams didnt they? all in the mapping it would seem.... or a healthy engine?

Re the wheels:

I put these on about 2 months ago - very pleased with them and they are lighter than 2118s.
I believe they are a clone of the 'Rays Gram Lights' which are very popular in the JDM market. Note that if you have a stud conversion you will need 'Tuner' nuts (as in pic).

Graham huge thanks for the pic. Anymore of the whole car then please share. No stud conversion so they should be good. I took a bit of a punt on the wheels thinking there link the 2118s so should look good. Hadn’t realise they were lighter so bonus.

oh and the GTECH stuff, is 15ml at 20 quid enough to do a good few wheels? guess it spreads pretty far?

  ford fiesta 2004
Also after you’ve all made me paranoid I spoke to Andy at ed. He confirmed that the they replaced the cam and a map to suit, with the modifications 186bhp is about right.

Car runs very well so I’m quite happy. Not looking to increase its power I want it to be as reliable on track as possible

I’m in southam Warwickshire.

Gtechniq stuff is spot on and this will easily cover inside and out of the 15” with probably a bit spare for the exhaust tips as it’s heat resistance is amazing.

Love all gtechniq products but won’t really be detailing this car as its not a show car.

Will be giving it a good scrub and might chuck the rotary on it and put some fusso on just so it’s got some kind of protection.

defo look decent they do

I've got about 6 sets of wheels I want to seal and protect..........................bugger, may need a bit more, like 80 quids worth which seems a lot!lol! may use something a tad more economically priced!

If your local I’ve got some poor boys sealant you can use. It’s not as good as gtechniq but I’ve got a huge pot of it.

Car looks great looking forward to seeing how you get on with those Calibre wheels. I was tempted with a set recently but heard a rumour the bolt holes are too small for the Clio and they require machining to fit

Re the size of the bolt holes ..... yes, I think they may be smaller than standard but they do come with a set of new wheel bolts that match the wheels. I exchanged my new bolts for a set of 'Tuner' nuts as I already had studs fitted.

Yeah I've heard they are ok with a stud and nut conversion but if you have the standard setup it's a problem. Great looking wheels though and really good value!

Picked up a second hand but brand new CMC splitter. Should help with making the car more aggressive looking
Ordered some splitter supports as well.

Cant wait to get this and the wheels fitted.
