Go pro editing and general ballache

Hi all. As you can tell by the title I am beginning to loathe the go pro.

Not only did it break, but I can't manage to find anything to edit the videos, I did have the ironically named 'quik' on my computer, but turns out its no longer supported on windows 7, so it's just a frozen screen.
I tried in studio and it says there's not enough space on my c drive and even after deleting loads of my videos it still says so, so I'm getting a bit effed off with it,

@JB21 how do you get your vids downloaded so quick!?

All I'm trying to do is rotate the videos as they're upside down. Not even bothered trying to snip or add anything to them. Then there's the 3 hour job of uploading it to YT, which just kills the quality.

Am I missing something here?!

Windows Movie Maker.

You should be able to rotate the video in there once it's imported.

Trim, add music, intro text etc are all a piece of piss in the program.

That sounds like a winner. I've got zero patience, I like the phone style apps cos they're so easy and can be operated by idiots like me

This is the state of my gopro too. Supposedly can take all sorts of abuse but can't hack a few track days in a civic?!

Christ. What did you do to it? Mines rolled down mountians, been hit against a tree and it's still fine.

Where did you mount it? And did you overtighten the bolt?

Must have over tightened but always wobbled around. Lcd version so case is built in so can't be replaced. Might just get sjcams

Yeah it's the same as mine. Maybe the mount was a bit dodgy?

Those SJ cams are supped to be decent for the money.

Was gonna get a refurbed gopro 4 but sjcam sounds like less expense and ballache

That type of GoPro is always slow for getting the video files off, we had one. Found it best to remove the card and use a card reader to copy them to the pc much faster.

Movie Maker should be fine for you.

Or if you're like me and have access to £1000+ software then Adobe Premiere Pro CC ?

I'm taking it out the camera and downloading it to the laptop. Running out of space now tho!

You guys bought an external hard drive ?

Any recommendations on those?

For my video editing I run a 4TB external HDD, but a portable one that powers itself from my laptop. I just bought one from PC World with a 2yr guarantee for about £100 or so, I can't even remember which brand it is!!!

Editing? As above, MovieMaker I think will do all you need...I use PowerDirector myself which is adequate for my needs.

Your camera above can be saved! On the same camera I had the exact same fracture (setup to record pedals, whacked it off with my knee exiting the car)...

You can try this...but it'll likely just break off agin in the exact same place...

Whereas I've done this. There are slight compromises in that a tiny increase in vibration is evident because the camera's mounted, in effect, at the end of a much longer 'mount', but it's still perfectly usable for me...

Western Digital drives are decent, something like this 1TB should do you.

Once i've edited my videos i tend to delete the original gopro files tbh, just taking up space.

There is hope for the old girl yet! Cheers will try that. Was going to somehow permanently secure it as a rear view on my cage but this looks like a goer.

I can't seem to find windows movie maker for my windows 7 anywhere. Or essentials. @Perrinho done suppose you have a copy of essentials or movie maker? Or any external HDD? :)

This is exactly why my external one is 4TB, so I can retain everything I capture.

So many times before I decided this I'd want to go back to old footage, find a particular shot from a particular day or event, or just rework and remake a video. That I don't have the original raw footage from my days with my 172 Cup, Clio 200, and for most of my Fiesta ST ownership makes me sniff.

Seeing as BIG storage is so cheap, 4TB it is. My first one lasted for about 18 months of projects before I brimmed it, my second one I started in January ?

I can see why you might want to but for me, if it's not made the edit then generally it wasn't worth keeping anyway.

The average track day is about 16gb of footage for me, can get quite a lot of them on a 1TB.

piss s**t and balls. I filed down the snapped mount, bought some araldite but then dropped it in water for a nano second when giving it a clean up. it now won't turn on. Really take a beating these go pro's don't they!? Not.

Go pro do a trade in with broken cameras don't they?

Still probs cheaper just to bin it and get a refurbed hero4 or even another LCD+.

Or just sack GP off and get an SJCAM.

Meant to be waterproof aren't they ?

To be fair the LCD has a waterproof and non waterproof back panel thing which I swapped out as it muffles the sound on these.
It was pretty much for 1 second, half submerged and seems to have Ballsed up the non removable battery. It'll turn on if plugged in, but won't hold any charge. Shite

Want a 4 cos I need the screen on back to setup.

I have and regularly use 5 GoPros;

HD Hero 2
Hero
Black 4
Session 4
Session 5

Not one of them has a screen on the back.

The B4, S4, and S5 I can and do connect to my phone to set up and position for the perfect angle...but you really don't need to. The angle captured is so wide, you will capture what you want to so long as it's pointed in the right general direction.

Show off. Ha.

Fair point, you're right. I could only use the wifi to set up

[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] Not really, the first two are old, woefully lacking in setup options compared to the others, have no WiFi, and are physically bust in some way or another. They're usable, just.

I just can't bring myself to bin them. Because accountant.
Same! Accountant ocd.

I simply can't just bin it. In fact instead of scrapping my washing machine I've stripped any small bits I can sell on ebay before leaving it out for the scrap man.

Well the LCD+ is officially dead! not bad for £100 new 3 years ago I suppose. Not a very resilient model tho!

Do people buy the broken ones for parts?

Ordered myself a GoPro official refurbed Hero 5 black. Liked the sound of voice control and image stabilisation (voice control for when I'm pinned in my seat when harnessed up sounds a good idea)
