172 Cup seat retrim?

Hello,

The bolster on my driver's seat is getting worn - any ideas how/where to get it repaired?

The foam has failed, so the metal is rubbing on the cloth, which is now looking a bit thin. Think it needs new foam and some new cloth too. Guess it's the kind of thing a good upholstery company could do with their eyes shut, but recommendations appreciated.

Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob,
It would be cheaper to keep ya eyes open for some cup seats and just swap drivers out, it is something a trimmer could do easy but bet cost would be around £100/£150 depending were you are, just to get bolster fixed then due to seats age the new cover would stick out like a sore thumb being fabric and not leather, hope you get it sorted :)

  Whichever has fuel
Buy yourself another front or rear seat.
Take that and your current damaged seat to an interior trimmer and they will chop up the spare seat and sort it all for you. For around £120.

(just booked in to have mine done)

or if you manage to get a driver seat unclip and change the whole seat base save you getting under the car and saves you penny's

Good luck finding a Cup drivers seat in Good condition. I found it very difficult but eventually got something that is ok.

I had so many people contact me saying they had mint seats for sale, all I can say is not everyone’s version of mint is the same.

I like the idea of having an upholsterer do it as it means you know you will be left with a perfect seat again.

I’ve actually got a spare passenger seat that I’m going to keep to use for bits in the future.

Would be keen to see what peoples results are.

If i can remember lol under the seat the base fabric cover is pulled tight by a threaded wire snip that then at the back there is plastic strips that hook onto the seat wire base (a large one) then at front there is about 3 to unhook lift off, put new seat base on pull plastic clips back on base. wires have been cut so i use nylon braided thread to replace and tighten back up ..... I carn't for life of me remember if you have to pull the side handle off lol been a few years since i messed about with mine, and even longer since I did any re trimming.
Hope this helps if you get stuck give me a shout.
