Noob slicks questions

So my DZ03G’s are on their last legs, probably a track day left in them so I’m thinking about what I want to replace them with, new slicks seem to be silly prices for a casual track day car so looking for a a second hand set but I have a few questions as I have no experience using them:

How do I know how worn they are?

I know in general they will put more stress through the car but is there anywhere in particular I need focus my attention?

I’m currently running 195/50/15’s and it appears 200/580R15 is a fairly close match, is that correct?

Are their any brands I should avoid?

Other than eBay is there somewhere I should be looking at source a set of 4 for a reasonable price?

Lastly probably a stupid one but I assume any tyre place can fit them as I don’t see why they would be any different to any other tyre fitting wise?

Cheers guys,
Dan

Slicks have tread depth holes which you can measure.

Depending how old the slicks are, new Direzzas will have more grip.

The main two brands will be Michelin and Dunlop.

Just looking on mrtyre and the Direzzas are best part of £500 now, A048’s are £430 so worst case will go with those if I go new. Decent tyres made such a difference to my enjoyment on track tbh, like a huge amount.

I haven't used Direzzas so cant comment in those. But i have used A048s which i thought were amazing. But and there is a but.... Ive just swapped over to A052s and my god they are miles better than 48s. I might add that they are not cheap but they are well worth it IMO..

None are that cheap tbh, most are knocking on the door of £500 depending on width. mrtyre doesn’t have A052 in 15’s only 16’s, I assume you’re running 15’s and if so where did you source them from at what price?

I’m tempted to try 205’s again which of course increases the price again... AR1’s now lol.

Yea im running 195/50x15. I got mine through my mate, WHEELMANIA in Birmingham. Iirc they cost me £140 a corner. I believe Polleysports stock them as well in this size.

Edit: cant see them on Polleysports website but ive spoken to them before on the phone and they had them then.

Used slicks can be a lottery. Some maybe relatively new with decent tread but heat cycled out.

If heat cycled out they tend to be like plastic and feel rock hard. I always ask the sellers what car and race series they came from and if they still feel tacky and soft enough you can dig a finger nail in that leaves a indentation.

There's a few reputable sellers on ebay if you want some links.
