TYRE ADVICE

  Mk2 clio 1.2 16v POW
hi everyone I hope your all well.

My tyres need changing and wanting some cheap budgets as no point investing in expensive tyres I dont go about 50 anyway lol.

I could do with peoples advice on which you think would the better tyre.

The choices are,

Evergreen 185 55 15 winter tyre 45 all in.

Rovelo rhp tyre from national 41.37 all in.

Tracmax tyre from eden tyres 39.70 all in.

The tracmax has the best ratings of C C.

What are your thoughts please thank you

Thanks mate you are right just wondered if anyone had these fitted and had an opinion if they are ok tyres the reviews for all are pretty decent cheers mate

Go for a mid-range tyre such as Toyo TR1 (£46.95 from Camskill) or Uniroyal Rainsport 5 (£49.65 from Camskill).

For £5-10 more per corner you'll get a considerably superior tyre to any of the ones you've listed.

Yeh I’d at least get some rainsports or Toyo’s. It’s not just cornering grip, you’ll stop much quicker on an emergency, less aquaplane etc. Avon zv7 do well in reviews too.

I have had a good time on Falken Ziex ZE310 Ecorun's. Good aquaplaning rating, good reviews - for me it's the sweet spot between performance and economy for a non-demanding car 🤷‍♂️

Was going to suggest these too. I usually pay ~£120-140 for a set minus fitting in 195/50/15. They seem to last ages too

I pay £28 each fitted for 195/50/15 Uniroyal Rainsport 5’s.

185/55/15 is a w**k size, change it if you can.

I run the new Proxes TR-1 on the Golf and for price and performance they are very good.

I can get 4 x 18's for under £250 fitted. Silly value.

Only a few really.

Obviously things like Eagle F1's were a lot better but twice the price.

Nexens and Vredestien weren't bad but always ended up back with the Proxes.

I really do not recommend using them on track (n)

The Goodyear are on my list. The supersport one.

Nice guy, had a good chat when I popped over to grab mine. Couldn't believe how little they'd been used, still had the little bits of rubber from the mold on them. If they'd done more than 2 laps I'd be shocked.

Aye both him and his dad are both sound and always up for a natter

There's a few places on ebay now that have 21 date stamped PS3's up for sale at £25 a pop. It's f**king mental how little use they see. I managed to bag a set of 4 235/40R18 PS3's for the Megane for £135 posted! The Yorkshireman inside of me absolutely filled the front of his shorts 😂

Hi everyone just wanted to update you. I went for 195 50 15 tyres today and went for the tracmax tyre they were highly rated with B for grip and C for fuel. I managed to get them for under 30 each fully fitted. I know if funding had allowed this month I would have gone for the Avon or uniroyal as recommended but I will consider these next time. I will say I am thoroughly impressed with them so far. Thank you again everyone for all your input.

Being a knob here, but when you say “fully fitted” what other options did they offer you??
partly fitted? Half fitted?
