Help needed ( 172 timing )

Hi all
Need some help, I’ve done/doing the cambelt change on my Clio (172) this is the second time I’ve done it, got the proper tools not cheap s**t.
But I’m struggling to get horse shoe tool 2 slid in nicely, it will go if forced! But it was spot on b4 I started! I’ve gone through the motions 3 times now & can I f**k get it 2 slid in easily!Any ideas what I can try to make it fit better? Or will it b ok as is??

Add a 2mm feelerguage. So its a tight fit.
Then do the timing sequence, and than remove. Should be dead easy now
