Good Afternoon everyone, I use to own a clio 182 and loved the car, sold due to baby coming and needing to get a better family car.
Out of the baby stage and now looking at getting something for a 2nd car/ fun for me, we have a 21plate Kuga for the family wagon.

I have test drove and looked at 220's and that would be my preference but with the usual daily trawl through car advertisement places i see some 200s come up at reasonable prices and mileage (which when have kids and a wife is hard to ignore the £££ saving). I know that the difference between the trophys and the 200 is the extra 20bhp, extra torque, stiffer suspension that doesn't bother me, A remap sorts that for me if i decide on it.

My biggest point is the gearbox, I have trawled through threads on here, google searches etc, the 220 came with a newer updated gearbox, was that solely down to the updated software they loaded in? which am I correct in thinking a 200 with the updated software will be similar to a 220 gearbox? or was there actual component changes within the 220 gearbox? Could anyone shed any light on it.
Thanks

Pretty sure it's just software. Have you driven a 200? I don't have any problems with it, but I have never driven a trophy tbf

no the garage I made a fleeting visit to only had a couple of trophys in stock, up where I live (north of scotland) there is none close by.

I’m pretty sure it’s only a software dofference. I managed to get my 200 flashed by Renault with the updated software, but it took some finding of a dealer who knew what I was talking about. That resulted in better drivability and was well worth it for the relatively small amount of money it cost. The difference meant less confusion of the gearbox when setting off or pulling away from a junction etc, and I’m sure the gearshifts were slightly quicker.

Thank you, yeah i've seen plenty of people do the reflash of the gearbox software. I know I am probably looking at miniscule differences between them. Just trying to gather more knowledge and info before I pull the trigger on a vehicle

Without doubt it was one of the best cars I’ve owned. I loved my it. It was a nice car to drive, moved well and handled really well. You could casually drive around town or rip it down country roads.
I did a few mods to mine, h&r springs, spacers, air filter and a secretary cat delete and a back box mod to release more sound.
