has anyone got any recomendations for a free antivirus software thing?

just got a virus and it wont go away with all my stuff!

can you put a link up please, as everytime i open internet explorer i get about 30 popups!

Ive been using AVG for a couple of years now, and its been pretty good.

But recently, I stumbled across AVAST. Where its much superior to AVG is when the virus checker actually finds a nasty..... AVG mostly relies on a manual deletion, whereas AVAST just deals with it.

yeah, somone recomended AVAST to me today too, gonna check it out, theres sposed to be some good free ones where you can use more than one together to get the same protection as an expensive one.

Been using Avast for years now, can't fault it for a free app.

If you can find out the name of the virus you may be better to do a google search for removal procedures as most AV programs will not remove all of the virus components.

AVG probably won't stop pop-ups. (altho, you should have a virus scanner anyway)

Only problem is for example when the virus won't let you on the internet so something you can't use it, always have a local scanner as it constantly monitors.
