I definitely remember mine - Scarabaeus. Playing at 9 years old, running around a maze with 'something' in the maze trying to hunt you down.

The basis of the game (iirc) was to find a section of maze that had a tiled-puzzle on the wall. Moving these tiles around with sliders enabled you to complete the puzzle, unlock the door and escape. All the while, you could hear this 'thing' getting closer.

Looks absolute bizz now - compared to the likes of F.E.A.R and stuff, but in it's day - it gave you brown-trouser moments.... ;)

D.

silent hill probably nowt before that had the beef...maybe dungeons&dragons on Atari Ste lol

Looks a good game, I used to love stuff like that. Might have to download it when I get home.

Probably Doom on the PSX (PS1).

Hooked up to the surround sound it used to freak me out playing with the lights off:D

alien vs predator - play as a marine with the lights off and the sound up.

wait for the motion sensor to start....

resident evil nemesis. on the playstation. creepy stuff with the lights off. never got far cause only rented it. the nemesis would just keep jumping out at me from nowhere. and i was crapping it.

Yeah when res 1 came out it was all quite new and it was graphically awesome. The bit where you have entered the house and walking down the corridor with windows to your right, then these hounds come jumping in scaring the shite out of you!!

tomb raider on playstation, when the creepy music started playing and the tigers and stuff would jump out at you, even though you knew it would happen, i would still practically wee myself! especially in the dark! lol

Cant think of any game really thats s**t me up. When playing doom3 and FEAR etc i was just always waiting for something to jump out at me the only when i have the sound cranked right up and the music jumps up or something makes me jump but thats it. No games really have scared me.

But remember playing doom when i was 9 - 10 on my 386. Remember when it used to be the greatest game going playing the shareware version which came on floppies. And it making me jump a few times.

Doom on my 486 back in the mid-90's. First game that actually made me jump for real. Anything before that was not really up to it from a technical point of view and the level of immersion generated.

Doom on Ps1 deffo! Loced that game. Know what you mean about Tomb raider though Nottie, more a case of 's**t something's gonna kill me! Shoot constantly in all directions'.

A game called Cave

Ran on a network of BBC Electrons and was text based.. now that is old school ;)
