what will a clio 182 need doing on the 36,000 mile service?

normal minor service plus aux belt

Whats the cost of the belt ?? or is that included in the service price ..

Max it should be included but most garages forget the ules chnages the first 172 had the cabled an AUx belt done at 72k they failed that much the Aux belt chnage was supposed to be done at 36k but garages forget to include this.

Yep it shoul be you can usualy tell who quotes for it as the price is a lot higher with the belt.

If a dealers says £200 for the 36k then they have fogot to add on the cambelt check. Now they might realise there error (most techies know the rules changed so do the belt and they later inform the customer etc and make them pay or contact them saying we've done the service but the belt needs doing before we can stamp the book). Its happened a lot this problem dealers cannot afford to loose all that work but have quoted the wrong price most garages now use the online check system which gives them a price which is right and included the AUX belt.

If you have the 36k done and they don't d the best and it later fails i a difficult one Reanult dealers have to pay up so its not easy sometime getting them to pay the £4k bill (list price engine is £3.5k they pay nearer £3.7k) then its 15 hours to fit. Renault UK refuse to pay since it should have been done so your fighting a dealership.

If they quote £350 then that including AUX belt.

Sorry for sounding thick but whats the difference between the Aux and Cam belt ??

So basically if they don't check it as part of the service and it fecks up I can go back to them ?? or should I request it be done ..

For some reason I thought it was 5 years or 48k *confused* lol

AUx belt is easier to change its the belt you can see down on the driver side of the car. It takes power from the crank and powers the power assisted stearing pump the aircon compressor the alternator and the water pump. The cambelt is under a plastic cover it takes the power/rpm from the engine crank and uses it to turn the cams the cambelt is £120 or so with all the tensioers it needs to ensure its of the right torque the AUX belt is £20 or so with the tensioners it needs.

It should be changed a 36k /4 years without question however if a garge forgets to do it get them to do it and pay up as withouth it you'll have problems trying to get them to pay for a new engine.
