oil change

  Audi A4
can anyone give me a step by step on how to do an oil change on a mk1 172. also where do i jack it up from, i'm assuming i cant jack it up from the side because the oil won't drain, is that correct?

also where is the pollen filter and how do I get to it, is it difficult to get to it, e.g. do i need to remove alot of things to get to it

would appreciate any help

ps i am a novice at car maintenance but would like to try these jobs myself.

I wouldnt say you needed to jack it up atall really (some people will disagree, e.g if your cars lowered)

You can drain oil, replace the washer and put it back on without jacking it up. Everything else is from the top - remove the fuel rail guard etc.

Pollen filters under the scuttle panel on the offside.

Can't find the oil change guide in the members area section. I assume it's in the guide section or am I mistaken

Hi,

This might seem a little dum so sorry. The guide mentions having to change the oil filter as part of the job, If im just changing the oil after 5K as recommended, do I need to change the filter?

Cheers

yes change the filter, before you screw the new onre back on smear the rubber seal with oil, and only screw on hand tight, it will not fall of or anything, any tighter next time you change mission impossible to get off.
