Windows XP password recovery ?

My ex girlfriends kids changed the password when windows starts up and now she can't remember it , she's asked me to help but i haven't got a clue

Any ideas what to do other than reformatting the hard drive ??

Easy peasy..

Download the linux XP password resetter (google it) and boot into linux follow instructions and viola .. sorted..

On Dells you can press a swith inside on the motherboard and it resets them.. useless from a security point of view but handy if you have kids.

I'd do what KDF suggested and use bruteforce.

Its hardly brute force when your talking windows security

brute force is when a program puts every letter/word/symbol into the password to try and get it, getting past the windows password is a simple case of changing the password...lol Windows sercurity makes me laugh
