Normal for new pads to smoke?

Just managed to fit my new pads at last!

Is it normal for them to smoke and stink when they are brand new?

Did a few 60-0's.

Can and does happen.

Would worry if they still do that in a week/500 miles time.

Mine smoked when I bedded them in on track at FCS last year!!

It my also be because the disc was a little scoured as the last pads were down to the metal.

What pads were they outta curiousity??

I had a set of EBC red stuff's and went out on a hard drive while at the recent South East meet and had them smoking after 5mins and doing 1000 previous miles on them.

The following day i ordered some RS4-2's and haven't looked back since

They are the Ferodo Premier ones.

Just Halfords 17.99 jobbys.

I am selling the car shortly so no point in putting anything better in.

I think they may catch fire though as they burn big time! I have just been out again and now the alloy is too hot to touch.

The braking doesn't seem to bad though. New pads are usually not as good until they have had a chance to bed in, are they not?
