Spring Compressors

  200 Ultra Red
I'm looking to fit my new eibach sportlines in the next few days and need some spring compressors. Does anyone have any I could buy or knows anywhere I can buy some.

Cheers,

Greg

with nick names such as "the lowering god" and "the king of coilovers" created by members to descibe me

i'd say i was correct

plus in the 6.5years i've been around clios i've probably lowered over 100 of them

;)

I wasn't questioning your genius man, just thought for novices it was easier or something and that was why they were recomended? Or am i totally wrong? :D Apologies

na no need even for novices!

the spring will pop a tiny bit when you undo the top nut, but only a tiny tiny bit

42min is the current record ;)

Did mine without them and i've never lowered any car before, but it would have been easier if i did have the compressors though, but i unlowered my car.

fred is right, the compressors arent required for taking the springs off...

putting the new springs back on however is a pain in the arse, as they need to be compressed to get the top nut back on. Thats why i mentioned it in my guide.

Also, if i didnt mention them in my guide and someone damaged something, i would get the blame. Just like someone tried to blame me for their fuses blowing after them following my rear light cluster guide :dead:

Don't need them for lowering? Only if putting standard springs back on and then that only depends how manly you are lol.

actually now you mention it i was taking apex springs off in the guide, so yeah i was actually making the car higher! lol

and the survey says! XXX

you need to pull the shock all the way up, then quickly whack the top mount on, push down, and enough thread will poke out so you can spin the retaining nut on a few threads, tighten up the retaining nut, and it'll compress itself

yes 42min all round on the floor using 1 trolley jack and 1 axle stand, although i reckon i can do a sub 40, must have a go one day

lol

that process needs to be done in less than 1 second before the shock starts to retract again.

Spring compressors make the job easier... FACT!

i lowered my non rs at home on my drive and my springs compressers etc are obviously all at work and i didn't have to much trouble undoing them fairly safely without.
as for the rear, never tried on a clio but on vauxhall astras etc that use that same spring setup i can even muscle the rear springs in and out of the car without undoing one bolt ;)
