New rear tyres, very bad steering control on my 182.

  Titanium Clio 182
I bought some Nankang SN-2 from mytyres and had them fitted on Monday (last week) everything was ok riding round the street roads. But I was on the motorway and I turned left then right very quick and the car seamed to wobble for a bit afterwards, it felt as if the sidewalls were moving. But my old tyres didn't do this, the ones that came with the car.

Do they just had not as strong sidewalls compared to the tyres that come with the 182.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm.. they probably just need a bit of time to 'bed in' mate.
Although they are nankangs so don't expect them to get much better to be honest.

nankangs had an ok report on the mytyres.com website. They were more than half the price of the Michelin ones!!

You get what you pay for.

When i see V Rossi or similar with nankangs, then i might think about it.

Yeah but for everyday driving of the car, this is probably what you need. My brother has them on is Megan 225 and I've driven that, they are pretty good on his car. Surely there can't be that much difference in them.

Nankangs are the worst tyres I have ever had.

I had them on my old escort when I bought some new wheels.

Wait for the wet weather, I couldn't even get the power down out of roundabouts with only 90bhp with them.

Lol. Also, you put sh*t tyres on the back... Expect oversteer when you drive the car hard. And if you dont ever drive it hard, why did you buy a 182?

my car came with them on the front - recently just put exaltos on and what a difference. The fun starts when it rains, been a couple of times when i felt as if i was on ice goin around roundabouts.

hahaha I do drive hard, I noticed my car felt like it was sliding out from the back when I went round a corner off a motorway. It was a new road i blamed that. I'm. It actually felt dangerouse when I suddenly move the steering wheel on the motorway. Maybe I should quickly wear these down!!!

That's how they felt on my escort.

I would dread to drive with them on a 1*2.

Yep, id get yourself along to the nearest trackday, whack em' on the front and get em' burnt off lol... Expect plenty of laughs though as it screeches and slides around the corners!

I will just have to drive carefully then!! Are the sidewall made like jelly? They seem soft compared to the original tyres.

Never noticed tbh... they came on a set of new wheels for my old Lexus once, but then they were 215/35/18s so they were pretty much elastic bands! Try messing about with tyre pressures and see if that helps a little.

thanks people, guess I bought some s**t tyres then lol. Least I know not to buy them anymore.

It tyres are sliding and snap up back when they grip.
Its not the side walls.

Unless your a hero or a fool put them on the front.

Why spend loads of money buying a sharp handling car and then skimp on the only thing that sticks it to the road...

Well the report on the website said they were good, the user reports. Anyway I know not to buy them again, I only bought cheap tyres because I'm a little short for cash at the moment.
