grrr dodgy noise from the front...

Ive had an annoying priblem with my 02 dci since buying it, but its getting worse and worse!!

It has always pulled to the left after having a bump previous to me owning it, and the ball joint decided to break on me recently on the passenger side front.

That was replaced and the car drives alright although still pulling, but under low revs there is an aweful vibrating type knocking noise that seems to come from the passenger side wheel area.

There is a noise when i full lock the car to the right (moving) which is like a tyre on plastic type noise (only way i can discribe it although i dont believe the wheel is actually catching anything). But full lock left there is no noise.

Ive already commented that the drive shaft has a small amount of play, and the wheel when pulled left to right moves slightly.

I know the steering rack on that side has play as it was brought up on a previous MOT. But i was just wanting to know what this annoying knocking noise is....

I was going to have a look to see if anything was bent out of shape around there, but i dont really know what to look for, as the wheel seems to sit a tiny bit back than the other side. I have asked a mobile mechanic who lives accross the street, but he says it looks alright and not to worry unless it gets louder, thing is after the long trip down to skeggy at the weekend, it is....

I want this sorting out as soon as possible, and i dont mind a bit of DIY etc lol... Have a set of new 17" alloys with low profiles that i want to fit on, but im scared that whatever is making that horrid noise might cause an accident and damage my rims or even worse :S

You can tell when the ball joints damaged seems like the cars not been repaired or serviced right you should have had it checked.

Sounds like the drive shafts worn get it changed the dci shafts arn't great but you being as the ball joint wasn't checked or chnaged after the crash shows IMO what sort of level of workmanship was done on the car.

Also check the stearing arm end it might be broken.
