upgrade discs and pads

  RB 182
i'm after some new discs, pads and braided hoses for my 182. thinking about doing the odd track day but not sure on what to get. had a look on k-tec at their carbon lorraine and drilled discs package. has anybody tried these or can offer anything thats am improvement on stock as mine seem to fade pretty quickly

On my 182 cup Ive got brembo max discs, ferrodo ds2500 pads and goodridge hoses and there awesome. Cant fault them at all. been to the ring twice and have never experienced any fade. :)

that sounds more like what i need. after a a few times heavy breaking mine are useless. do you use standard brake fluid with that

I used dot5.1 cos i can cope with much higher temps

Super dot 4 stuff is IMO better the pads are the week link no need to go to 5.1 its race stuff that ie expense and has side effects like needing chnaging lots.

Perosnaly I'd keep to DS2500s no more realy keep away form the carbon loaraince or whatever there called thy are very aggressive pads.

i only put the 5.1 in cos i dont pay for it :) :). those carbon pads will eat discs. like i said a trip to the ring with no brake fade says alot for a set of DECENT discs and pads

Stock are decinet though IMO you have to work in the limits of the car.

After all you don't try a instant 90 degre right on a circuit at 140mph the car won't do it

I've got brembo HC disks and EBC greenstuff pads, they where fine around the Nurgburgring.

if you plan on only doing the occasional track day then in my opinion you have got two options for your pads and two options for your disks

pad options ferodo ds2500 or ebc yellow stuff pads each are as good as each other but the ebc yellow stuff pads cost less

disk options brembo high carbon disks or brembo maxi disks both are brilliant disks but it comes down to price the high carbon disks at around £54 mark and the maxi disks are £90 on eBay and £120 + from all your tuning company's

as for your braded hoses it's down to your own personal choice they are all the same really its down to price

as for the carbon lorraine brake pads if you like the sound of a squealing pig , your disks destroying and don't mind your wheels destroyed then by all means go for them

cheers for all your help. think i'll go for the ds2500 pads as they seem to be a popular choice with alot of people and prob the brembo high carbon or max discs. rear needs doing to but i was just going for stock items on these as didnt really see the point in anything else. are the braided hoses easy to fit.

Yep easy to fit its he bleeding of the liner whcih can be a propeble if you don't try and limit fluid loss

I never had a problem with standards, day to day they are fine. I have uprated bits as they've needed replacing though and with some max/hc discs, greenstuff pads and goodridge lines it does stop better, but that's not saying it wasn't good in the first place :)

nothing wrong with the stock discs and DS2500 combo i'm running. Had that set up on my Cup for around 2.5 yrs. They got a pasting too. No need for carbon jobbies imo

i was under the impression that stock disks are fine and get better pads and lines .
Yep stock are good the lines are handy but realy deepdns what you want you could easily argue stock calipers are junk.

There ok if your using them to pull up outside tescos! if you know how to drive your clio then their pants!!!

If you know how to drive there fine. If you don't then there not.
