Pros and Cons of....

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
What are the pros and cons of....

Lowering springs

and

De-Cat

Definately be lowering the car, but wanted to see wat pros and cons were like, and about the de-cat :) thanks

decat - will make to go quicker and sound louder .

decat will need to be swapped for mot time as it will fail emissions test .

Lower = less bodyroll and depending how low, better handling

Decat, more responsive throttle, more noise.

lowering springs - will make the car look lower , more sporty in one way .

lowering springs will make it feel alot bouncy as compared on my old car , you will feel alot more road problems as compared to having coilovers i suppose

I know that de-cats will fail MOT, but would garages be willing to fit it?

yep . nobody says no to work .

some will advise of what they are doing , some wont .....they are not held countable for your intentions or so to speak .

ICIC... and can police tell that i have a de-cat or is it hard to tell?

when i last got pulled over for speeding the police hated me because they couldn't actually prove how fast I was going (passed them going the other way on some back lanes)

they wanted to get me for something, and gave my car a full going over - he knew I didn't have a cat (its pretty obvious when theres a stainless straight bit of pipe instead of the cat) I acted like I had no idea what he meant, and said "well it's just passed its MOT 3 days ago" I just had to show him my MOT certificate and that was that..

Also, depending on who you know, you might not have to remove the decat for an MOT ;)

not sure how much difference it would make on a 1.2 though

if you get your car low enough the pigs get too lazy to get under and struggle its funny watching a fat copper rolling around on a wet road like a pig in s**t

certain exhaust popping might give it away , otherwise than it being louder than normal , i dont think it as easy to tell .

you could blame the exhaust imo

crack, damage, good threads in for the lambada sensor other than that its just a metal pipe not much too go wrong id guess

there are 2 CS to cat just a thin piece of metal cost about 3p

the other is mani to cat this can be bought from renault for about £10 - £20 depending on dealer and consists of some springs and bolts and stuff

both you may have to purchase to fit, but if your a bit cheap then you could use the old ones.

a suspention kit will make it harder on the pothaoles and bumps.
just springs makes it very bouncy, (quite funny)

i heard the 1.2 16v runs erratic with a de-cat, better to sports cat it.

Cons of lowering springs, if they're cheap ones they could give you shoddy handling over standard, and sometimes a hard ride. Pros, looks.

Cons of decat, if you get pulled by a Ford Galaxy with VOSA down the side, your in for a reaming. Pros, slightly better performance, sound.
