who can actually justify paying £300 for a phone then another £40 a month line rental?

Unlimited data on all tariffs £35, £45 & £55

Visual voicemail available as is EDGE. No 3G.

o2 have also created a agreement for 7500 WiFi hotspots around the UK via Cloud. These are free.

Oh and as feared it is a 18 month contract :(

This is the issue.

I could buy a 8gb nano and get a free n95 for at total of £129.

Or i can have a 8gb iphone (which is missing ALOT of the n95's features) for £270.

No brainer (i would never buy an N95 it was just an example)

It's a pointless device as far as I'm concerned. If I had that on my arm in the gym I'd be in the s**t for taking my phone in with me! Plus the battery life is going to be toss after listening to music, then unable to phone people.

Phones are for phoning, iPods are for music. I love gadgets but this is more pointless than most.

So thats £270 + £840 = £1110 Minimum. (without call charges)

Fu*k off.

I pay

£22pm (unlimted data, blackberry £180 credit)
£0 for a phone (currently a P1i)

£528 over two years including call costs! that leaves me with £550+ to spend on an ipod touch 16gb

Yup.

Its not the greatest phone ever, its just because its Apple that everyone wants one.

I'll buy a Touch and get a free phone!

Can't be dealing with o2. Ill stick with my phone that lasts longer than a day and isn't scratched to fcuk by the end of the first week.

Amen to that Lee. Also with the ipod touch out I dont see the point in anh iphone. I am interested in the ipod touch to control my Squeezebox that is rigged up to the Hifi

Unlimited data tariffs will be available to all o2 customers.

Possibly the only decent thing announced today.
This is such a half arsed launch, Dumping disco'd 8gb US stock into the uk, no mention of MMS.

Think I'll stunt with an N95 to be honest. I think They've worked out most of the bugs in the software.

I really want a P1i, but Tmoilbe probably won't release it. :dapprove:

I like the look of the iPhone, I just don't understand why you wouldn't just by an iPod Touch which you get double to memory for the same price.

People will buy it in their millions, in exactly the same way they bought the iPods.... not because they're necessarliy the best at what they do, or even value for money - Just because they're the latest must have and modern society dictates it.

That's the reason I bought an iPod, but for me phones are different. It's more important to be able to use a phone, if I can't listen to music it's hardly going to ruin my day.

Biggest problem that had become apparent to me is that they are squeezing more and more technology into phones these days - N95 is a glowing example... but the major thing holding us back is that battery/cell technology hasn't caught up.

If I were to use the features on my N95 every day (WiFi, GPS etc) I'd be lucky if my batteery lasted a day. That is the biggest drawback of these uber phones imho.

Battery tech is taking forever to catch up.

I've got a Nokia E65, I reckon I've had it 6 months ish. For the RWS weekend I left the house Saturday morning with it fully charged. With a bit of call and text use on Saturday and the same Sunday it was totally dead by mid day on Sunday. That's a f**king joke. I didn't have BT on, and never once turned on WiFi. I'm going to get my old 6230 out at this rate.

Indeed pointless.

Re the EDGE, that's slower than 3G and if memory serves me well, it was available on O2 years ago..

O2 have been awful for me lately though, so promptly switched to Orange, you pay for MMS and voicemail along with other shitty little things like that, but I am confident that I'm better off.

Got an SPV M700 for free too, which for those less knowledgable about Orange's rebranded products is a HTC PDA, with built in GPS and pretty much every other wireless feature you can think of.

LOL 6230 ftw. My old man has one. Decent phone!

My works phone (Nokia 1110i lol) last literally like two weeks on standby. It's immenese.

  An orange one
its all about the nokia 6300, it makes calls, it texts..and looks stylish

backed up with a nano ipod for in the car, personal use or into my bose sounddock

job done..why the f**k would i want a phone with no buttons anyways??

What winds me up even more (god I'm ranting to the entire office here now) is the fact it's a mobile aimed at business users. I wouldn't get much in the way of business done on a phone with such piss pour battery life.

*and relax*

I noticed Matt Brown had an old Nokia 8310 as his second phone. I used to have one of those. I wouldn't mind one again. I'd just have to do without text smut.
