Clio Dash trick - regained power?

  Black-Gold 182
Hi all,

I did the Clio dash diagnostics trick last night, as I thought I'd have a look and see what it was like. When I got through to the last screen, I had a "t" error on it. I know my car had a problem just after I had it and it was repaired under warrenty, and I always wondered if they had reset the computer after fixing it. I reset the error code, and I'm not sure if I'm imagining it or not (placebo effect), but my car seems to have more power all of a sudden.

Is it possible that clearing the error code has somehow made the engine jump out of a "safe" mode? If this is the case, then I strongly recommend everyone checks it!

The other option is that resetting the error codes has reset the ECU - I fitted an uprated air filter a few weeks back, and I'm wondering if it had re-calibrated itself for the increased air flow?

I remember something on here a while back explaining the codes because theres 4 of them iirc. I think the T is throttle management or something. Someone please correct me if im wrong!

Cheers

Yeah - I thought it was something to do with the throttle/valve timing - that's what I had repaired under warrenty (a sensor blew!)

I suppose if it thought the fault was still present, it might have been running in a safe mode? I couldn't believe it though- the reason I bought the air-kit was cause it felt down on power.
If all I had needed to do was reset the error code, I'd have been laughing! Not that I'm too bothered about the improved air-feed. ;)

if its an open-air induction kit you will be down on power.

Yeah - technically speaking it is. I'm in the process of building a custom housing for it (on a budget!) I've discused this one to death in other threads - I know when hot I'll be down on power, but when cold, there is definatly MORE power.
