Mainly because I'm lazy and I know you geeks love a challenge....

£300-£450 tops.

Needs to be 1.7 ghz+
1 mb ram minimum
50 gb hd minimum

Reasonably user friendly as the user is of basic computer literacy. This won't ever get used for games and if it was, they wouldn't be resource-hungry.

What ya got please?!

Went for this one in the end. Would never buy Acer on the say so of my girlfriend who works in the IT reseller business and says more Acers get returned than any other laptop manufacturer she deals with (and there are several large ones).

Same price bracket as above but as good quality screen/resolution as possible as I'll be using it for all my photo's/editing etc...not fussed about Harddrive size as I'll be getting an external one at some point..

Needs to be fast too, I know chuff all about ghz, ram etc so all help appreciated.
