An interesting read on CPUs

Interesting comments about PC gaming.

""If you talk to [software] developers today, their prime target is the console first. This is almost universal. Then they spread it out to the PC. I don't think it was this way five years ago. This year they're starting to go to the consoles first, because it's a more consistent place to play games."

"We did an evaluation of consumer satisfaction with PC as a gaming platform -- the feedback came back pretty bad. Customers are taking 53% of [publishers'] support calls on the PC where only 16% of where their sales are coming from. In the last two years, the top 50 selling PC games had 42 different [sets of] minimum system requirements."

I'm sure there are still people who will fail to recognise anything other than a PC for gaming though lol.

I always thought that we got whatever the PC had two years ago, although obviously that changed with the current gen consoles. I expect the next gen to be breathtaking lol.

  Better than yours. C*nt.

Technology-wise I would suspect that's probably closer to the truth than many people on here will let on.

Neither the 360 or the PS3 can come close to what 7900s SLI'd could do with a Pentium D Extreme Edition...

Consoles are made to a budget, much better value for money if you are just talking games.

I'm aware of that, but many people on here only see the smaller picture, and that's that their 'fast' nVidia 6800 or Radeon 9800 is not as good as their console - which is purely down to the fact that they aren't the cutting edge - of which PCs pretty much will be a couple of years on from consoles.

Aye mate, pc's will always be ahead graphically, but I think the current crop of consoles has caught up enough now, and for me, with that and the playability, the social gaming of the console means I have no need to upgrade my pc etc.

Where as ps2 compared to PC, the difference was scary lol :clown:

Yes yes - PCs now quality-wise are silly. My gaming/development machine can make mincemeat of a dual 1080p setup, but let's be entirely honest... I only run it on a 20" widescreen so it's completely wasted. It was just one of those "Build it, finish it, use it for a few years" jobs...

The 360 can more than entertain me at 1080p, and it tends to be easier to game on (apart from FPS!).

I'm dextrous enough to cope with FPS on a controller thanks. ;)

Just intersting that the majority of games are dev'd for consoles these days ans then PC's..... never used to be the case I'm sure.
