cambelt put on wrong???

  182/ 172 Cup
Just had my cambelt changed along with new pump and tensioner, sine then its makes a horrible noise when i rev it then let off the throttle, i took it to renault and they said maybe the timings out and the belts 1 or 2 teeth in the wrong place, its runs ok just makes this noise what do you think??? was fine before i had it changed. the noise isnt coming from the belt area but the rocker cover area. its a 1.2 16v 2003. thanks

My strong advice

Take it back to the garage ASAP before something bad happens.

i am i phoned them back an it goes in this afternoon, renault said it could be the pistons just catching the valves!!!!! so thats no good!!!! i just hope it hasnt fucked it already.

  Clio 1.2 16v
if they've fucked it then kick up a fuss tbh, they aint done their job properly so if they make you pay for it, kick up big time.. throw tables etc

they no im not paying them for it to be sorted, its a joke really, i thought i was doing the right thing giving it a service an all iv got is a empty wallet and a broken car!!!! renault wanted over 500 to do this service so thats why i didnt take it to them!!!! but mayb they would have done a proper job:(

Take it back to whoever did it mate, I've just had a problem with my car. A bolt from the bottom of the cam belt casing came off hit the belt shredded it knocked the timing off causing a misfire. Renault said they needed to take the head off to check valves and what not, i told them otherwise but they assured me they needed to do it!
End result was a bill over £1k and a not very happy me!

Hope you get it sorted!

all sorted, they said it all looked ok but they stripped it down retimed it and the noise has gone so fingers crossed!

The noise could be the belt too tight it'd make a noise when you let off the throttle. Stripped it down and slackened the tensioner more like.

Just to echo what Fred said you'd have to have no arms and be blindfolded to get the timing wrong on a 1.2 16v.
