supercharger?

  lift number 1 @ btm
i know ben at angelworks looked into it, but i think there was hardly any room to fit one. and it was going to be mega expensive!

  53 Clio's & counting
the problem is as a supercharger runs off a belt, there is very little room in the engine bay,i cant see how one would fit

  Non RS : (
thats true the drivers side of the bay is so tight, even with stuff off if not already taken off I.E Air con, no way you could get any decent super charger in.. y not get it turbo'd?

turbo would be good but as you all know its been done before so i wanted the chalenge of the blower, was thinkin bout putting one on my road car which has no air con but then id still have to move the alternater. so i think the plan is to do it on my race car and move the alternater so it runs off the drive shaft.

yea should be gd especially with the sequential gearbox just need to locate some money now lol

na i thinkin it wnt need a bulge as im hoping to slide it behind the radiator and either make or have made a copletely new inlet manifold, but then again a bulge mite look quite cool.:D

What would the power increase be like? I thought a supercharger needed 25-30 per cent of an engines available powere just to operate.

  Disco 3 &4 1993 mini
yea it does take some power out of the engine the power increase and the power loss would depend on the size of the supercharger.

It has been dne by a German place was mega expensive as it was TUV approved and not massivly powerful 210hp or so due to being build wiht stock internals.

Plus the belt arrangment was a bit odd.

Not sure they ever did any conversions I think cost vs gains would have stopped people.

the turbo would be good but the challenge of the supercharger sounds quite appealing :) it shouldnt cost as much as its a race car and theres a lot more room in the engine bay.

na you havnt got air con, abs, the batterys inside the interior and the engine isnt mounted at the top its just bolted to the subframe.

Lots of cash for little gains dosent sound like much of a worth while challenge

20v Vag Turbo power is the way forward.

Saw a supercharger installation that used a centrifugal blower. That is, the compressor end of a turbocharger. The blower was mounted about where the standard air cleaner is, so the intake plumbing was pretty simple. What was complicated was the drive to the blower. It appeared to be driven by pulley located where the A/C normally is - that presumably was removed - and shaft ran along the front of the engine to a pair of toothed pulleys that drive the supercharger.

it must have taken alot of work to make sure the shaft was stable enough to run the supercharger, my plan was to put it at the fron tof the engine and run the alternator off the drive shaft abve the gearbox and put an electric waterpump on it.

i have so far removd the AC,PAS,im leaving the belt driven water pump as its at the bottom of the block, and wont be getting in the way. i wont be having the standard inlet manifold either ;)

charger setup is all done, still working on his engine though.

Here's a nice blurry image for you, i wont be showing mounting or belt routing until its done.

A bolt on kit for a stock engine is on its way.

so how much of a mission is it? i wanna try get someone to do it down here.. lots of work and complicated??

Its super tight, generating belt sufficient wrap and rigidity are all issues.

Not really willing to give anything away, but mount kits will be available if people want to do the rest of the setup themselves.

Blurry Ben. What ever happened to the ''ultimate high performance Clio exhaust'' we were promised 2 years ago?

Still here and too expensive for anyone, retail cost was above £2k.

Nobody made any orders or put down any deposits, so didnt really owe it to anyone.
