I have done this last week took about a week or so to do bumpers ect are all easy to remove, cost me about £30 with the sand paper paint primer and lacquer, colour match is spot on. Get your paint from autopaint. I used 2 cans which did 3 coats on fornt, back and side mouldings and the both door handles.

I got a few aerosols of the Halfrauds primer & lacquer along with a some of the paint I'm going to try out :)

Have some 180 & 320 grade sandpaper and wet/dry paper too.

Just bits I have put together from reading up on here :)

i've just done my strips and spoiler, cheating slightly as it was under the instruction of my mate at this garage with proper tolls and paint, but i can tell u high build primer will be your best friend if you want a smooth finish! its kinda filler and primer in a can. keep working at it with 800 grade until it feels really smooth. :)

Where can you get that filler primer?
I assume it is best used on rough surfaces to fill out all the cracks & blemishes before paint is applied

I was today quoted £318 just for the side pannels on my Clio, I am having the rear quarter resprayed £300 and the rear bumper resprayed £200 and I can't quite understand how the side pannel strips cost more than a bumper! The bumper and rear quarter panel are due to somebody at work crashing into me in the work car park. At least that is free through the insurance!

Theres quite a lot of work in doing the rear quarter, you have to get the blend into the roof and doors right or else it iwll stick out like a sore thumb!

Yeah I understand the rear quarter costing £300, but not £318 for a pair of side strips/door bump strips

shouldnt put any primer on cracks or blemishes or anything like that. try to get your surface is good as possible before you start any primering. side strips are ok as its just texture, you can get rid of the texture by building up a few layers of primer.

lazy people who do s**t repairs and leave huge pinholes in filler than bang a load of 2pack primer on to "cover them up" really get on my tits.

its alright til it sinks and you have to repair and paint the panel again.
