Polycarb windows???

So as a few know, trying to get the PH1 172 to around 850900kgs, yes its probarbly not possible but i gotta project to work on through the winter ;)

So on the list, poly carb windows! i've read/heard alot about them making great weight savings for the ££ esecially if you make them your self... now while in tesco's earlyer i had flick through this french car mag, showed you how to make your own windows etc, look fairly straight forward :approve: so question is where is the best place to get this stuff? is there some where i can buy it pre-made? only looking to do the rear side windows & boot lid, maybe the doors aswell depending on how i get on with the rest..

boot lid is flow-formed mate i.e not a flat sheet...so unless you buy that from say P4P you'll struggle...as for the side windows yeah dead easy....places like B&Q do huge sheets of polycarb for circa 50 quid a sheet:).....ideal you want 5mm+ in thickness:)

Sweet, may have a look there on the weekend :approve:, whats the deal with the door windows, could i use them as a template & make them outta polycarb?

Are there any draw backs to using poly carb apart from the fact there not going to be as hard wearing as glass? what sort of weight could i save?

Who's P4P?

yeah if your running the window runners still, just use your OE glass as a template, then cut it out in poly carb:)

no draw backs as such mate, its stronger than glass hence the rally cars useing the stuff:), the only downfall is it tends to scrach easy!!

We have a polycarb rear screen planned, then 3mm rear quaters made from some scratch resistant stuff, then polycarb front ones that are being custom done with rally hatches, thats the plan any how. No idea how it will turn out but should be late next week by the time we find out.
