cam belt went ..... it is gonna cost

Hi all, was driving to work when the car went dead, RAC came and said it was the cam belt.

took to garage, they said they would try a new belt to see if i waqs luck and not bent any valves, but if that didnt work they would have to open her up.

Just wondering how much am i looking to to fix her. ????

oh its a 98 R reg 1.4 rt clio 8 valve i think...

If its only an 8v, its not too dear.

Prob cheaper to buy a second hand engine (£100?) and pay someone to fit it (150 ish?)

happend on my mates car we just went down the scrappy and got a head for a fiver, waked it on, and its still going now 2 years on.

Well got it back from the garage....£329 in total

this includes ...
Labour
Cam belt
Alt belt
2 Valves
Water Pump
New Bolts
Anti freeze
Head Gasket.

All done in 2 days

I think its a fair price.......
