Realistic price of bucket seats

For a pair of half-decent bucket seats with harnesses / subframes to fit the clio, what sort of price are you looking at? new or second hand.

Could you do it with a few hundred squids?

Could you do it with a few hundred squids?

In a word... NO

It all depends on what type of seats you want.. Fixed buckets, recliners?

There are some bargains on ebay every now and again, but most go over £200 for a "decent" pair, when I was looking for some a few weeks back.

Do you actually need harnesses, If so.... 3-point, 4-point, 6-point etc.

As above, plenty of sets on ebay just need to keep an eye out

Can you fabricate a set of frames yourself? If not frames new are around £100 each.
You may have to but these new if fabrication is not an option, it is quite rare to see a set on ebay for MK2 Clio fitment (second hand)

My mate got a pair of fairly decent cobras off ebay for £70 with subframes but they were for a mini

Thanks for the commets. Wouldnt want to spend more than £350-400 for everything.

Cheers for the info gray, will have to go and research what would be best :)

Cobra are the best to be looking at, Sparco and the like out of budget?

Sparco always seem over priced when compared to Cobra seats... But I guess you get what you pay for!

Sparco seats always come in narrow sizes compared to the sparco seats also.

Sure. Well Ive had a quick look and would probs be wanted fixed buckets, 4 point harnesses, or 5. Best get my ass on ebay then! :) will have more luck buying the seats/harnesses and getting subframes made?

it's a good idea to try a few before spending lots of money on a pair, as fit and comfort vary a lot between different seats; you can also find that things change once you've got them in the car as well, as the seating position/elevation of the subframe can highlight 'problems' you didn't think were there whilst sat in a loose seat.

the Sparco Sprint is a (apparently) a comfortable steel framed seat, although you do really need to look at spending around £300ea (new) on FG(etc) shelled seats before they become really comfortable. a steel framed seat to avoid is the Corbeau Forza - v uncomfortable. all imo

bit of a minefield and easy to spend lots of money without being sure you've found the 'best' seat for you, especially with fixed back compo seats
