Drag at 120mph

I was taking my 172 cup a good blast the other night and i noticed you hit a wall just over 120mph, i`m guessing this is mostly due to aerodynamics?
Has anyone ever tried the old trick of covering the front vents up ? I know they do this with some drag road cars and it can improve the top end.

It's a bit of a slog after 120 but I got mine to 135, no idea where the other 10 was coming from?!

Tuck your wingmirrors in, remove the wiperarms, tape up all the seams (hood, doors), fix a splitter, over inflate the tires and PIN it! LOL

I heard that if you let all the air out of your tyres it makes for a better launch off the line. Could also be true for a higher top speed? Lower to the ground would mean less wind resistance? This is why I run on 8" wheels and rubber bands. Yo.

150mph indicated on the autobhan. Never has a problem getting to 140mph.

When the car was stock it wouldnt go above 130! Now it pulls all the way up to 120 (speedo figure) in 4th, and still not hitting the limiter, like its in 3rd! - Once into 5th though the pull tails off dramatically.

Cavy V6 for top end runs. Legs on that was something else lol

I need to do some testing, I never dare look at the speedo when traveling 100mph or over. The sat nav records top speeds but I have no idea how accurate it is.

There seems to be a marked drop off in performance once you slot fifth, mine pulls well to 125mph in forth though

I'd imagine tucking in the wing mirrors and removing the wiper arms would help alot. Hatchback shape is v.poor for c.o.d

120mph in a 1.4 maybe lol, but by the time you have hit that i`m back home cracking a beer open.
Its like my bros gf reckons her mates VTR does 120mph, but she didnt say how much run way she needed to get there. My Cup can eat up 120mph and to 100 these cars are mental, i reckon it must be the ratios on the cup, cus i did look down at the rpm and i was close to 5500rpm in 5th gear as i was slowly pullling past the old codger in his 7 series down the ashby bypass. lol
