Squeaking noise from gearbox...

When the car is ticking over (more so when cold)... there is a rough squeaking noise every second, increases slightly under load?!

Also the clutch release bearing seems to be getting worse sounds like stones in a blender when the clutch is dipped ggrr!

Had another look this morning...

the noise noise increases when drive to an almost constant squeak, It has been like this for just over 1 week and seems to be getting worse.

Gearbox oil? Looked for leaks? You don't want a broken gearbox .
I'm no mech but they've got to be expensive.

Right....

The noise is alot louder when the car is cold (first start), as said a rough squeaking noise.. Which goes away when you press the clutch down, then all you can hear is the dead clutch release bearing!

When you rev the car it almost sounds like an electrical interference noise/the squeaking noise spooling :S

Could be the bearing squeeking from cold too. Mine did this. Get it chaged asap as it will explode and do some damage. Look at Johnc172's cup thead and you will see what I mean

That is/was my initial thought... ever since a spirited drive to Hope vally, it has been getting progressivly worse *sigh* hhmmm

Happened to me too. one of the bearings in the gearbox disintegrated...

Get the box off asap..

Although the car has done 86K and has had a hard life for the past 20K

Mine made it to 105k.

Benp's gearbox/clutch guide was top notch with taking mine out.
