Clio 182...what do you dislike?

Car  Ferrari F430 Spider, 182
Sorry for the negative vibes but is there anything you 182 owners dislike about your car?

I've not posted really on this site and have had my 182 for a bit now and just wondered if you all loved your Clio?

love our 182 far more now than when I got it. the only thing that I dont like about it really is the steering wheel, its like a bus

cold engine is poo, steering wheel is mahoooosive and the buzzing noise from me air con thing in the roof gets annoying sometimes, though it doesn't happen all the time

Oh and the orange dials etc inside look a bit dated, need to be blue maybe?

Cold engine probs? Strange.

I only really drive it when its raining or cold as I use my other car when I want to cruise.

The one thing I do like about the 182 is that is runs perfect from cold immediately.

Steering wheel is huge, engine when cold - revs tend to die straight away with gear changes for the first few minutes

Have you ever driven it for more than 15 mins?

You must be one of the lucky few that doesn't have the erratic idle when cold.

steering wheel, seating position and cold engine idle for me - lumpy and unsatisfying to drive when cold.

Steering wheel could be replaced but I like my cruise control, new seats would make a world of difference though, and when the engine's warmed up I find much less to complain about!

The wheel on my yacht is smaller than the clio steering wheel.

steering wheel, buzzing aircon thingy, cold start engine and the fact that i have to get new bits for it almost every month lol. oh and the amount of money it costs to run (tax, insurance ect)
seat hight doesnt bother me as im a short arse any way so need to be as high up as poss lol

I'm surprised to hear people having problems/complaints when the car is cold, ours is fine when cold sometimes pops and everything in the morning :)

I drove it to Worcester once (3 hours) and drive it to West Ham :rasp:

But apart from that you're about right :approve:

The seating position is abysmal, steering wheel is so big that I sometimes catch my hand on my leg in tight turns and the lumbar support (or lack thereof) on the standard seats is terrible too - even with new seats!!

Re: Cold engine - I drive like a granny when the car's cold so it's never really been an issue. You just have to be more smoooooth and account for it. I'm surprised people mention this as being specific to the Clio! Most cars are a bit 'quirky' (I would say ALL of my cars have had similar traits) when they're cold - it's a mechanical device after all!!

:)

what is wrong with the 182's when they cold then. what does it run lumpy then.

surely it only takes 5 mins to warm up though

our 197 is poo when cold though, and really slow. Dont get me I dont gun it from cold but driving normally, and changing around 3k its rubbish. Its almost as though the ecu is starving the engine

Ive got no cold engine problems that i know of.

I dislike the seat height, too high, but most of all i dont like it for motorway work. Cant sit back and relax, which i think would be solved with the addition of a 6th gear.

Used to dislike heavy clutch in stop start traffic, seat belt beeper, useless auto wipers and lumpy idle. I also didn't like braking heavily in it.

The fact that everytime i use the jets to wash the windscreen, the two side jets spray off down my side windows....i keep meaning to stick a pin in them see if i can chamge the direction of the spray!

And the fact i have to wait 5 minutes before i can pull away or the starts jumping up the road.

Everything esle i love!!

Crap steering wheel, Rubbish cold engine, heaters/climate sucks, air con sucks, shite auto wipers, Seats are too high, french shi*tbox build quality,

172, but it's the same,

How has it got this far without mentioning the awful gearbox? Every car i've ever driven has a better gearbox.

Tried a corsa?

Shocking box's on the C imo, i dont find the clio box bad at all, just needs to be a bit shorter but changes are smooth. Among the best i've used, although i haven't ever driven anything sportier i have driven more luxury/tourer cars.

I used to have a corsa, was far better! The clios is notchy and horrid.

The steering wheel, the exhaust breaking, exhaust mount breaking, expensive servicing, rubbish seating position, leaking light washer jets, erratic idle...

I've had all these since I bought mine and I still absolutely love it!

I dont like the fact that the 197 is better lol:rasp:

I have driven the 197 and didnt think much of it.

Was not as quick as the 182 but did have better brakes than a standard 182. But most 182 have the brakes uprated anyway.

Maybe you have a dodgy box.

I've driven 3 corsa c's and a combo van. All box's felt the same. In the van i now just force it into gear with a loud crunch most of the time because i got fed up of having to double clutch every time (and yes i am putting it all the way down :p)

Dont know if its related but i drove a fully spec'd vivaro van and that had a built in double clutch of some sort which made changing gears a dream.

Well i've had a 172, which had 2 new gearboxs, and my 182 with 11k on it when i bought it was is crap.

Don't get me wrong there "ok" but for a hot hatch there very poor, have to change gear to slowly then loose all engine revs etc.

Ahhh, i get what you mean now, i'm just happy to have a smooth change, but i agree it is too slow, and could do with a shorter shift for a sporty car, like S3's have.
