Black headlight surrounds?

I'm after getting the 'blacked look' on my 182's headlights. I've seen many (like mine) that have the grey inserts in the headlight units, but would much prefer them to be black.

Could this be a DIY job for myself with a little patience? Or am I looking at replacing both headlight surrounds to get the effect that I'm after?

Cheers,
D.

It's a pain in the arse to seperate them and swap the inserts or spray them. Usual cars do it alright, you know how awkward Clios are though.

How about Lamin-x?

I think Liquid Force of whatever the chaps name is lamin-x'in his headlights, would interest me to see how bright they are then though.

You mean black 172 units??

Could be. From the ones I've seen, it really does appear random as to which Clios have them. Neither mine or Jain's V6 has them, yet MossyV6 has them on his illiad V6 and Chris 'n Nic has them on his 172 Cup. I think it's far more noticeable on a black gold car tbh were the grey headlight surround just appears a little 'washed out' - like when cheap black plastic starts to go grey in the sun - lol.

^^^^ - that does look good m8, but......

..... ^^^^ - that's what I'd be worried about. I'd rather not mess with covering the beam of light at all - just deal with the surround.

172's have the black surrounds, 182's have the gr(h)ey ones. So Vee's would change around 2003 ish?

:)

I spoke to the guy whose Clio that is in the pic, he said it shiness through fine and if you look on the website it says so there as well, hence fully legal etc.

I've got some on my taillights and you can see the reverse light and indicator (which the film is covering) perfectly day and night. :)

Is that on the Scoob, m8? I'll have to have a look at them next Thursday. :)
