Vinyl Wrapping Interest Thread

Car  Renaultsport Clio 172 Cup
Hi Guys,

I have been in contact with a Vinyl wrapping company to get some quotes on how much it would cost to get the 172 done. I have advised that I am on a car forum and there may be other people interested in this depending on the price.

Before I go any further, has anyone on here had it done? Is it worth it? Protection wise as well as colour wise?

And mainly, would anybody be interested?

Cheers

I was thinking a bright white, but if thats a fail, then possibly a clear protective coat..

I've always wanted mine doing acid yellow :o got a stupid quote of a couple of grand though!

if your confident enough you could do some bits yourself, ie, bonnet, roof, mirrors, sidestrips, (if removed), all flat or small areas. the harder bits are the bumpers, well the front neway. a sign company should be able to do it all in a day.
it would also help if you clean the car to make it spotless also, dont use any waxes or polish tho, every nuck and cranny needs to be clean to make the wrap last longer.

Might be worth speaking to fred. There's a company that drivers dream days use, they did a demo at autosport.

If the shed doesn't sell I'd be interested.

He said they wrapped a poor clio pink the other day and it cost her 800 notes. Dont seem very competetive with re-spray prices IMO also that included door shuts etc but not under the bonnet!

but dont forget your paintwork underneath the wrap is protected, and if you want to revert back to standard you just peel it off. also if it gets scratched, again you just peel away and put a fesh piece of vinyl on. like anything it has its advantages/disadvantages.

Hi Guys, sorry for the late response I have been away this weekend and havent been able to get on the net.

I have managed to get a Quote of £890, so if I can get numbers I can advise on a better price dependant on amounts.

I will find out how much bonnet's cost.

Any other parts?

AG looks amazing!!!

Who does all the prep work? or is that included in the price? Presume the paint needs to be polished etc prior to wrapping otherwise the imperfections like tar etc will show.

I will find out for you but I would presume you would want to detail it first of all.

They are able to do Carbon roof and bonnet for £400 and the whole car for £890 but I can possible get this down.

I will get prices on individual items too

Hi Jat, still need to check out your coilys.... Where is this place your gettin quotes from? I'd like some bits in carbon vinyl:

-Fog surrounds
-Bonnet

how much would that be?

Alright dude, you free this weekend? Im still waiting to get some 16's though so still getting a bit of rub as they have properly settled now lol.

I can get the quotes for the fog surrounds if you want, the bonnet will be £220 and the roof is £220, all together £400.

tbh i would try and stay away from polishes and waxes and stuff etc. its a wrappers nightmare (trust me i know). it will all have to be wiped off properly anyway. whoever does the wrapping will clean the car up themselves. to help them out just give it a bit of a going over with tar remover and make sure its generally clean. we get vehicles in at work that are full of crap and it takes ages to clean before we can even start putting any vinyl on.

John eWright in Nottingham said i can get it done for about 200-300 if i buy the vinyl in and do the prep work.

200-300. thats just labour, the cheapest your gna get the vinyl for is about £100- £150 and it will probably be crap tbh. and what prep work, bucket and sponge.

Guys the price will be £890.

I have just spoke to the guy at Signworks who has asked to pass his details over.

Cheer's guys

£890? sod that.
Im waiting for funds for some thing to clear then i will look at covering most of the larger areas of my car myself and get the pro's to do all the tricky work.

Stuff like the front bumper and rear bumper possibly the spoiler would be for the professionals, most other area's are large a flat, even the sides if you take the strip's off.

Thats alot. My dad is a signwritter and does this. Ive had a go at doing it and its piss easy once you get into it. As long as you have a heat gun your fine.

Ive been tempted a few times to ask him to wrap mine but i dont know if id like it but not that it matters now im buying a new car. However i could buy any car regardless of colour as long as its good condition and wrap it any colour i liked...hmmm *runs off to think*
