Insurence Question, Driving friends car

Me and my mate are off on a journey and would like to share the driving

Would i insure the car on my policy for 2 days or would he add me as a driver on his policy for 2 days?

I got quoted for my missus 46 quid a a week to be added, OR 3 quid for the year, i obviously chose the later..
