F4R Engine Tolerances

A.Y

  Formula Renault 2.0
I have a Renault Sport F4R engine in my Formula Renault 2.0, I hope you dont mind me joining the forum to ask a few questions and get further info for this engine.

I am trying to decide on an oil other than the 15w50 that Renault advise to use, so I was wondering if anyone has information on the bearing tolerances for this engine.. and if indeed a thick oil such as a SAE 50 weight oil is a must.

I was thinking of using a Motul 300V 5w40, but just trying to see if that would be suitable.

Many Thanks

Best to PM oilman on here, he knows his stuff. Clio's use 5w 40 usually in standard engines but unsure if yours is any different at all?

stick to a 50 IMO, all our track clios run a 50 just for added saftey

there's no perfomance benefit between a 40 or 50

i can put you in contact with the guy who looks after all of the engines for Renaultsport if you want
