Overrun Remap, Where?!?!?!

Car  Iceberg 172 Cup
Hi all, as i live in Barnsley, and the only place that i know of that do this is James @ Stone Automotive, have i got any other alternatives?

Does anyone know of a place in the North that can do an Overrun Remap (the pops and bangs map above 4.3k rpm)

ok i've just bought an RS Tuner, just had a thought, once i've used it i can sell it on! (cheap remap)

i've done loads of reading up in the past as i had a 182 four years ago but i've just had a quick look and defo still abit rusty!

I plug the RS Tuner in, order liscence of henks website, then what 2 files do i need to take note of?

Also when you get fed up with the overrun map, you can easily change maps back. Not sure what files you'll need..

I bought the performance 98 ron map, and Henk sent me a custom overrun map, as my ECU wouldn't work with the generic overrun map.

You'll need to know what ECU software your car runs, chances are it will a 7804. You may need the updated rst file first, then the cal file (which offers the overrun feature).

I would warn you against the overrun without a decat. I would also warn that you will have NO money after running it for a week as it drinks fuel.

PM if you need any files/pointers - not far from you.

hi mate i do have a decat ;)

just waiting on an unlock code from henk. any ideas how long this takes? he emailed me straight back this morning within 15 mins, ordered my unlock code and now still waiting to hear from him.... fyi mate....

also dont worry about the 10 DTC's, its because i have an Aftermarket steering wheel and no carbon cannister lol

I may be wrong but you have a 182? so why is it running 172 software and cal??

I thought all 182s run 8000 software and 7802 cal before mapping? then the upgrade OEM software and map brings it to 8200 7804!:S

6100 2A06 is what the 172s run normally

How easy is it actually to use an rs tuner i see peole use them alot on here , i am
Good with computers and stuff but worried il mess my ecu up , id be buyin a tuner new from fast chip , so i take it i wont need any unlock cOdes etc , also do you get a map when you buy a tuner ?

Very very easy to use, and yes you get a map with it when bought new
 
Just been watching 'pops and bangs' remap videos on youtube and I hate them. Sounds crap/stupid and makes you look like an idiot. Anybody who uses it is a r****d.

All a matter of opinion my friend. I knew those damn rally drivers were all retards! Poping stupid flames out of the exhausts! Personally i think it's awesome! Cant be much of an idiot running a very sucessful business at the age of 22! The 172 is my fun car, my e60 5 series is my more serious, down to earth, comfy, clean, quiet, reliable car!
 
Ok. But you don't drive a rally car, you drive a Clio worth about 3 grand. Most people think you car is broken. I'll try the video I've just watched.

The problem arises when your car sounds like a rally car whilst you're being given a hard time by a sales rep in a diesel.

It was a round figure, but you've proved my point even more.

If you like it then obviously your going to get one, I just really don't see the point. Pops and bangs from performance/exhaust related changes yes, but not from a generic map.
 
Well if we all didnt do some thing because we might look stupid, none of us would be driving cars like a clio. Considering the general amount of drivers consider them as a hair dressers car or some thing to small for the older person.

If you want pops and bangs then go for it, if you dont want to go ott like the blue car in the above video but want some thing more than the black un.
Then just ask for it to be done but you dont want to go over kill on it.....

Its exactly the same as Henks performance map, just with added poppings! If it was so silly/sounded s**t i doubt Henk/Fastchip, JMS, Stone Automotive, RS Tuning would offer the map. People do like it, we'll have to agree to disagree, it's just fun and that is the only reason i own this car, as i do not need it for anything else but playing about in.

I'm not disputing that some people like it, alot of people clearly do. I'm just stating I'm not a fan at all. A rally car pops and bangs for a reason, and that reason certainly isn't because of an RS Tuner map ;)

i dont think there is any need to prejudge someone because of their car. If you knew me as a person you wouldn't say this.
 
I've got a decatted RS192 with the silencers removed (straight through) sounds just like the BG 182 in the video, but it naturally pops & bangs on overrun. Its very subtle compared to the completely laughable remapped example!
 
Your original comment RHD does make you sound ignorant. If you don't like something someone else has done, say just that, but there's no need to suggest that anyone who does anything you wouldn't is an idiot.

The cars on that video sound quite similar to my Tamora on the decats...made me smile, am I an idiot for taking the Tamora for a blast through some tunnels and constantly lifting off throttle? I wouldn't do this myself to my Cup but getting the overfueling map does sound fun.
