Hi all,

Im looking at starting to get into detailing.

1, To do my own car
2, My boss and his son also want there cars doing.

My questions are

1, Could anyone please point me in the right direction to which company sells the stuff that i need and at a good price....I do have a wash mitt, a bucket with a grit guard....:)

2, Could you please help me in some kind of starter kit together, ie products from start to finish and a machine...

3, Is there anyone near me that would be willing for me to spend the day with them while they detail a car so i could watch and ask questions and pick up a few tips?
I dont mind travelling out of Essex, paying for your time, buying lunch and i wont get in the way or is there a company that does a detailing corse????...:)

Oh and i did work on Aston Martins for 10 years and then in a bodyshop on Porsches for 4 years so im not totally brain dead, just never done this line of work

Thanks in advance

Scott.

Im in Essex mate, yes ive read lots and even watched stuff on youtube but theres nothing like seeing it done and then asking questions along the way.
Also finding out which products to buy and not to waste money on buying as theres so much out there and so many companys selling it.

im not a proffesional, but i know what products work best for me. if you do a list of what lengths and stages you will be doing i can suggest what products i think would be best?

when it comes to paint correction its probably best to ask someone like gally on here. my cars havent been bad enough to get enough experience in correcting swirls by a DA, but again i have some knowledge on what products to go to when this is needed

but i can help with everything else for sure

I'm in Braintree so not far. I don't mind helping people out but dont really do much in the way of paid detailing as I don't enjoy or want the risk. If someone wants a hand or a friends favour then that's different

There have been plenty of starter threads up since the weather changed so look through them and you'll see a DA and the menzerna range are popular, prep is key with suitable tar and iron removers then claying.

If you've not machine polished before then get a mild abrasive pre wax cleanser and start using that first by machine

Cheers but i havnt got a clue where to start or what products to get, relly need a starter kit of some sort so that
1, its not wasting my money
2, i can get a feel to what works
3, I will learn

Need a list of what to buy, from step by step washing the car, masking up, wheels etc....

Ive got a Rupes rotary so i need the pads for that.

Thanks again

Scott.
