Automatic wipers problem

Hi, I have just recently purchased a Clio 1.4 16v, loving it so far, i am having one problem however, the automatic wipers.
When i start the car and its raining I have to switch the wipers on manually , after that the wipers will stay on automatically (come on and off when the rain stops and start)

As soon as I switch the car off again and leave it for a while, the same will happen again, the stalk is set on the automatic position.

I have also done a little research, and people say you can have problems if you have had the windscreen replaced, however mine is all original.

Any ideas?

I've always had to flick it to automatic each time the car is turned on.

Nope... That's pretty normal. You have to flick them on, or they won't work.

There's no problem there, working just the way they are supposed to work. Switching the car off resets the "ECU / computer / Sensor / what ever it is thingy ma-bob" so you need to move the lever up and then back down one simples.
If you were lazy you'd switch every thing off before getting out of the car anyway or is that just me

And then if its spitting and they are going flat out, they are also working spot on.
