Some idiots should be on the road!

On my way to work earlier last week i was going down a back road as normal as its the route to work. As i approached a blind bend some absolute f***ing nutter in a black corsa came flying round the corner and ended up on my side of the road. God knows how he never hit me because it was literally inches away from a head on collision. luckily i reacted and swerved in time but unfortunately it did result in me landing in a ditch. even though the corsa driver probably noticed this he still kept the foot down regardless of what just happened. Luckily there was no damage to my car but unfortunately this happened.

The alloys had not been on the car for longer than a month and just had brand new tyres fitted all round. now one of them has a massive dent in it and its p***ing air out.

Me being me though the next day i went and got the dent removed, got the wheel primered and sprayed. :) and the day after that it looked good as new.

Does look tidy now though, and at least you and the car are ok.The corsa driver will get it in the end,cos karma is a beeatch.

Cheers, was definitely a close one. if it wasnt for the air leek in the tyre i actually felt like getting the car out the ditch and chasing him. Got the wheel fixed for a decent price so not all that bad. but you always know something bad is away to happen when you see a wee decked 1ltr corsa with a loud exhaust in view.

Same happened to me just last week with a scooby, fucked my bumper and maybe the suspension :(

I got forced into a hedge not long ago to avoid a head on, scratches all down the bumper/wing/door. Absolutely gutted.

I was actually looking at those wheels not long ago, wasn't sure on what they'd look like on a clio, but they look nice!

Lol, yeah just buying a particular make of car defines your whole personality, if they sold it and bought a renault they would become a scholar and a gent.

Pretty much. Vauxhalls are mainly driven by mouth breathing knuckle draggers.

Ive currently got a couple of vauxhalls, a couple of fords, a few renaults, a vw and some minis.

I have noticed every time I get in the renault I instantly get more educated and better mannered, its not like you are just talking utter rubbish or anything...

on the other hand i have heard of umpteen ditch incidents when some clown apparently came the other way ............huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmm

Or a cat run out etc, always someones fault bar the person in the ditch who is a self-labelled hero for avoiding a bigger problem? lol

Careful on the way home, Chip - I've heard there has been a Fairy Liquid spill (everywhere).

that old favourite of RWD hero's diesel .......

i rode bikes for years ...never saw diesel , i drive 40k + a year , can't remember the last time i saw a diesel spill that would cause a huge accident ........

i have however seen pictures of loads of cars that have hedge/ditched or generally had a huge one on diesel spills

Yeah probably should have mentioned that the corsa was coming towards me. What angered me as well was knowing what happened he didn't even stop.

go on in all seriousness how fast were you going ? , if you can be honest 50 ? 60 ?

and you say you ended up in a ditch ? why is the side of the car not trashed , as cars and ditches mostly end up as panel damage.

or did another car come towards you round a corner when you were driving equally fast in the opposite direction and as he caused you such a fright you jerked the wheel and clouted the curb ?

as in my many many years of seeing such things i would hazzard a guess thats a more likely true account of what happened .

Just a guess mind , you might be being totally honest

I will admit i was going just over 50 but slowing down significantly for the corner as its a bad bend. you can barely see whats coming round as the the corner is on a slight raised brae

The ditch i landed in didn't have a hedge or that thats why the bodywork is ok. It was basically just a small ditch at the side of the road. The reason the wheel was damaged was because when i drove back on the road to inspect the damage i noticed there was a few rocks sitting in the ditch and that must have been what the alloy hit.

I did get a fright and did swerve but to be fair anyone would if they were going round a sharp bend with hardly any visibility and a car comes flying round and ends up facing you on your side of the road. i was a bit shook up after it as it was a really close collision. unfortunately i didn't get the number plate so really i couldn't do anything about it but at least the damage was minimal and the alloy was saved and looking as good as new.

Gutting. it happens to quite a lot of people just because some people have no road sense. People that drive like they think their a "pro racer" really need to wisen up and learn they cant just jump straight in a car and put the foot down everywhere. especially when people like us that ill assume your the same take pride in our cars and have to suffer for it.

Notice them on ebay? I had mixed thoughts at first and though what the hell if they don't look good then its always just another set of wheels to add to the collection. when i got them they were in desperate need of a refurb but really im quite happy with how the look on the car.

Never seen a diesel spill tbh but I have seen what must have been a truck gearbox explosion on a roundabout which was lethal, I actually saw it and slowed down as I approached but it was like f**king ice! There was me going sideways at snail pace and I could smell it too (thats how I figured it was gearbox oil).

I go over that roundabout on my way to work and I'm certain it becomes more slippy now in the wet and this must have been way over 6 months ago.

Joking and poking you aside I am glad you admitted your speed ... when a driver admittsca speed its very often higher. Know doubt you will understand that maybe a slower aproach to a blind bend may have been more appropriate .

Therevare also many advanced driving techniques that would change your roadbposition and allow you to see further ahead .

Worth considering if you often drive such roads

Yeah It's a shame people still race the road, as i said I came off less than 20 yards from where my pal died when he came off the road there. It's a notorious black spot and dickheads like that will kill someone. Sledgehammer and balaclava sound tempting
