hi all, i got back from work yesterday to find out my car had been involved in a big accident, in which the driver, who was supposedly drunk/skagged up ran off so I'm preparing myself for a claim on my insurance and without no claims protection and £600 I'm fucked. It doesn't look that damaged...

once you've fitted the cable tie/jubilee clip onto the cog does it matter which way the flap is facing (ie. open or closed) and what setting the motor is on as I've had trouble lining it all back up after manually opening & closing the flap to check if it works.

they're about £20 from renault & its just a case of unclipping the housing and swapping them over so not even a minute. I'm not entirely convinced it will stop the buzzing though as most of the noise seems to be from the plastic housing vibrating and not the motor itself so i'd probably leave it

5w40 synthetic but don't know which brand. I'm guessing short of changing it again & watching them stick it in myself there's no way of telling what he put in there? If he has stuck in the wrong type would it be likely to affect the sound of the engine or could this be due to something else...
