    Rear Brake spring thingys?

I've just gone to replace my rear pads on my 172 and have purchased a fitting kit along with the pads. This comes with new T bar and circlip plus two "spring clip" (like a bent paper clip) things (per side). The problem I have is that with the clips hooked over the top of the pads the T bar wont...

    Climate Control Chaos!

(I've had a look around the old threads on climate control going nuts but can't see anything covering this....) I recently did the fix to the climate control to stop it blowing hot all the time (the cable tie on the worn spline thing) which seemed to work but now it's going totally barmy...

    My handling feels like crap.

Sounds a lot to me like one or more of your shocks have gone as that's what my 172 was like when one of the rear shocks went. Give them the bounce test and check the struts for leaking oil.

Severe Juddering While turning at low speed ....

I'd never noticed this problem before when reversing with full lock off my drive - however when I lowered my 172 it put the tracking right out and I started getting this really bad juddering when on full lock at slow speeds. I reckon you should get the tracking done to be safe, it only costs...

    rear brake calipers

Get a hold of a large long bladed screwdriver which has a thickish shaft that fits snuggly into the slots on the caliper. This makes it a doddle to turn the caliper back.

    Klunk

Well, I got mine sorted. Turns out that lowering it knocked the tracking waaaaay off - guy at the garage who sorted it said he hadn't seen one so bad for a while. It's supposed to be .5 degree toed out but they were 8 and 10 degree toed in! So the slow speed clunk is one wheel skipping on the...

    Klunk

Hmm, I've just fitted Koni adjustables and springs to my 172 and I'm getting the same thing. I'm thinking it's because I haven't tightened the top bolts that hold the struts in place tight enough as the 'klunk' noise is similar to the noise you get when you slacken that nut and it just turns the...

    More money down the drain....

I've got a standard 16" 172 wheel you can have for the cost of postage (or pickup near Edinburgh). It came with the car when I bought it - (had 2 spares!) so I don't need it. It's in the garage so I can't recall it's condition but I'm sure it's true and just has a few scuffs/kerbings.
