do yo definetly need the wind back tool for the piston in the caliper or can you do it by other means ?

it can be a bit tricky but you can do it with a hammer handle or a large bit of wood but a wind back tool would be the easiest way

Get a hold of a large long bladed screwdriver which has a thickish shaft that fits snuggly into the slots on the caliper. This makes it a doddle to turn the caliper back.
