Appreciate this has been covered a few times but there’s lots of speculative answers and contradictive Information littering posts.
I think it would be handy to have differences concisely documented so can anyone help confirm
rack type smi or trw and inner tie rod lengths for the following UK...
glad my endless hours of bleeding and swearing have helped someone, but yep replaced the caliper, it bled as it should and it was instantly noticeable. The abs bleed on top if that made an unreal difference though, brakes are almost as sensitive as a modern car.
wish I could explain why the...
Just realised in the title and 1st post I said bleeding the pump  Hmm someone had brakes on their mind.
not sure what the correct procedure for priming is but I filled the pump prior to fitting. disconnected coilPack / fuel pump connectors So it couldn’t start and cranked the engine with...
I get you. Honestly time as it’s my daily and space but also a lack of experience with engines as I didn’t even think to check, would’ve been a good shout to at least see how they’re doing. My workshops for bikes and there just isn’t space for a car so 9/10 I’m outside On gravel swearing in the...
hadn't had it off previous to replacing the pump, was pleasantly Surprised by there being no crap in the sump, was fairly clean and pickup was clear too. Half expected to find it full of metal flake knowing my luck
thats awesome you got away with that, I’ve seen a few pickups rammed with...
alrighty man, yeah I suspect it’s the issue but I can’t 100% say so. Descriptive words are subjective, was toying with words, overplaying a whine with how Harrowing and guttural a whine feels when it’s coming from your engine and you suffer mechanical sympathy  that and the filters acting...
I’ll be replacing a suspected failing oil pump later in the week. 148k engine, Howling bottom end like the pump is struggling when cold with the thickness of the cold oil and vibrations from the oil filter. No oil light popping up and the noise goes away once warm. Very subtle valve tick once...
Cheers man, that was some journey it led me on. just wish it made some sense. I would’ve deleted the abs system if it didn’t drive the speedo / mot issues.... and still had the same issue.
could’ve been a couple of overlapping coincidental issues but going from taking air when bleeding to it...
Just following this up after sorting but not solving it.
After replacing the abs pump, a rear abs sensor that coincidentally failed and the rear brake over axle line that blew whilst replacing said sensor
It turned out to be the rear right caliper.
figured it out by Pushing a piston in and...
Hi guys, just want to bounce this off someone.
Clio 172 ph2 non cup with abs.
I’m no stranger to rebuilding bike/car brakes etc, spent more time doing it than I care to think about although I’m less familiar when it comes to abs systems.
So the story,
Brakes were fine prior to this.
few...
That’s brutal Neil. I wonder how many of these boxes will be left in a few years... almost everyone I’ve spoken to has had gearbox woes with them. Shame there isn’t an easy alternative box swap.
Mines could probably do with a rebuild, getting a bit of bearing noise from it I think. Wee...
So about a week back on the road after doing the box and an oncoming learner picks up a rock about 3x the size of a tennis ball in their wheel and pings it across the road at me... ??? sourced a headlight already but waiting for breakers to be open tomorrow to hear back about a nearside iceberg...
Hmm... never looked into available sizes ??? More Clio dilemmas have led to fresh rubber time being postponed anyway. Picture to follow ? probably going to end up on the t1rs the more my budget keeps getting hit.
Sucks doesn’t it ? genuinely going to have to get cover for when I’m further than...
T1rs are absolutely not on par with others in their rough full rrp range.
I’ve used them but not on the clio, been in a few nippy cars with them, been surprised by them in the dry and terrified by them in the wet. ? but I stand by them being hard to beat for value, more so when you get them on...
