I think you will be lucky to get more than £6,000 from the insurers. (probably more about £5250-£5500?) Start collecting as many "high end" for sale adverts as you can to provide as leverage when negotiating (stating belt services etc.), and obviously never accept first/second/whatever offer...

I use Toyo T1R on my 205. Very good tyres for the price! (mine are £27each :)

I doubt this would happen again at the garage in question. They seemed as shocked as I was, and i'm sure they will up there PDI check on this basis. They could have made it more difficult in me returning the car (i.e draging it through legal channels etc..) so for that i can count myself...
