Just took my P plate clio down for MOT, went to pick it up and they havent done it because when they started it the fuel rail popped off.

Is there a way of visually seeing if the belts gone. Just had a good look and it appears theres no water in the resevoir or rad. Apparently it just died on the motorway at 50mph and the previous owner assumed it was the cambelt. Just curious if theres an easy way to confirm its the belt

The whole story is a just bought a clio with a broken engine as the cambelt snapped. Was looking at putting a belt on and turning over with a spanner to see if i hear anything i shouldnt. If i do, then slap in a 2nd hand engine or maybe pull the head off and if its just valves, change the head...
Well on the engines im used to you can clearly see where the cambelt goes, on this 1.2 it doesnt look like theres enough room for a cambelt on the end of the block and theres no cover, hence my comment. If you read the OP you will see that I doubted the information I found, thats why I asked here :)

Im looking at buying a clio 1.2 but the cambelts gone on it. Id imagine it needs a new engine chucking it but before i buy it id like to find out whats involved.
